I know there's a minimum number of posts you're supposed to have before PMs are available. I don't know what that number is though, but it might be possible that you're not there yet.

I checked your account floater and it does say that you have PM's enabled. Do you have a Priivate Messages link in the upper right hand portion of the window above the Log Out button?
