Haha, it's not perfect but it will do. We just needed SOMETHING, lol.
It looks like when you click a link to another thread, like the one above, it takes you to DVDTalk as it is in Safari or whatever instead of opening the thread in the proper mobile FR version. You also can't upload images from your phone. If I'm wrong about these two things then please let me know. I am not familiar with FR.

Yeah, mine is doing that on Android too. Tested some other links, like the Sheep thread in Other linking to the actual game in Movie Talk, and it opens in my browser.

I just noticed the avatars too, cool! Are they showing just in this app or on the web based board too?

I'm only just now feeling well enough to get out of bed and on my computer for the first time since Tuesday now. I am noticing that the avatars are NOT showing up on the main site, and only show up in the mobile app.
How freakin' stupid.

Re: Mobile version
- You start off on a list of forums. You're still in the mobile-friendly view.
- You choose Movie Talk. You're still in the mobile-friendly view.
- You click to read a thread about G.I. Joe: Retaliation. You're still in the mobile-friendly view.
- Someone in the Retaliation thread links to an older thread about G.I. Joe: The Rise of COBRA. You click on that link. The app treats that like an external link, so now you see the desktop version.
I know that's not ideal, but I don't think that happens tooooo often, does it? I tried to see how it works in another forum's mobile app, and I couldn't find an example.
The [SPOILER] tag isn't a standard part of vBulletin, so Forum Runner doesn't handle them gracefully. That's the official word from Forum Runner as recently as a couple weeks ago.

LOVE the mobile option. I had posted in a few of these threads about being dissatisfied with not having a better way to view the site. Are their quirks with the program? Sure. But this is a much, much better option and I wanted to tell IB thanks

Re: Mobile version
Maybe I'm just being a noob, I don't own a smart phone so I can't test the mobile app and I don't know how you go about getting it on your phone, but where do you find it? I don't see it advertised anywhere but in this thread so how would anyone know the app exists? How does the average person find it? Does it just make itself known to you if you have a smart phone?
Forgive the noobness, I just want as many people as possible to know about this app so DVDTalk can benefit from it.

Forum Runner and Tapatalk are popular forum reader apps for Android/iOS. Most people who use a smarthphone and frequent forums would know about them.

Re: Mobile version
Thanks Tom. If the smartphones alert you to the app's existence, then I suppose advertising it would be unnecessary. If not, I would think a sticky in every forum here would be a huge plus, not just Forum Feedback where very few of the members (or non-members) will more than likely venture.
I don't know if this will be what drives the increase in traffic here and puts DVDTalk back on the map (so to speak) but if it is, the more people who know about it the better.
Just my .02 cents worth.

I don't know how Forum Runner works but Tapatalk will notify you that a forum is available in their app if you access the site from a mobile browser.

Re: Mobile version
It certainly would make sense, wouldn't it?
About how it would have made sense to post the thread asking for advice on how to help the board in folders where most people would see it as well, and also not stubbornly locking it after a very short period of time.
But what do I know?

Along with being at the top of every forum... Another way to get the word out would be to send every DVD Talk registered email a notice about this new service...

Re: Mobile version
I'll point out I just found out about this by randomly coming in this forum. Good to see the mobile option, although I'm not buying a second mobile app, since I already own Tapatalk, which is supported by every other forum I semi-regularly frequent (8).
I'll also second the decline in activity over the past few years.

Re: Mobile version
I could have sworn that I saw an announcement stating DVDTalk was available on Tapatalk now. However, I can't find it available in the app and can't find the announcement either.
Am I going crazy?
