If something isn't done to curb Guarddog immediately, I will not be renewing my subscription. He's being allowed to tread this site as his personal conspiracy theories blog, and it's gone from amusing to offensive.

I'll bring that issue back up to them.
It might not be very difficult to allow entry of your movie inventory, but extra features such as looking up movies for reviews/covers/price/etc. could require a lot more effort. Is there a minimal set of features that could be incorporated first and then more advanced features that could be added later?

At some point, I think user submissions would work along with giving either a discounted or free premium membership to those that do the work on checking/verifying submissions.

I snooped all over the website both logged out as a guest and logged in with my account to see if I could find any mention of the premium membership. I only found one: Profile > Control Panel > Miscellaneous > Paid Subscriptions.
If it's not being advertised, it's not contributing much money.

Agreed and one of the many reasons that I will most likely not renew my premium membership at the end of my sub.

It would have to be a more substantial number - 10,000 or 25,000, but in theory I think that's a very good idea.

Padding would be unreal if that happened. It'd be a whole forum of Solid Snake PACs.

Premium "extras" v "bonuses" for regular members?
Quality is subjective but should triumph over quantity. Because of this, I doubt that a "free" avatar enitlement based on posting patterns would work even if we DID somehow contrive a qualifying criterion based on a ratio of posts-to-membership-duration.

I'd want to be able to import from a comma delimited file. DVD/BR, cover art, IMDB links...whatever features are standard for the other sites that do this in terms of user enterable info (price paid, date acquired, ect.)

If IB was able to put together anything even approaching DVDSpot's former usefulness, I would be a premium member today.

I am against the idea of free avatars...It's one of the main perks and I like knowing who spent $$ for basically a picture in their posts.

That's why I suggested a high number like 25,000 - you'd need to engage in years of padding to reach that total. I've got avatars turned off anyway, so it's not a big deal either way. The ones on this forum, from what I recall, are massively oversized and horribly ugly. No major loss.
*Shudder* In the meantime, the ignore button works just dandy for the one.
It'd be a whole forum of Solid Snake PACs.

I will also let mine lapse this year. The contests are now very few and far between in the premium area, and the avatar isn't justifying the cost.

Given the immature and frankly insulting attitudes certain people-in-charge have demonstrated lately, I won't give another cent to this site.

In the years IB has run this site, it doesn't seem like they care much (or even pay attention) to make improvements. I doubt I'll be donating again.

I always thought the premium membership was a good idea, if it allowed access the the adult forum.

I also think I'll be letting my membership lapse too. Like Tarantino said, the contests don't seem to be happening quite as often as before and the avatar just isn't worth paying $10 for.

Re: The "I let my premium membership lapse" thread...
Many queries are put before IB for comment and others are handled by the mods/admins but the answers will not always suit all so it is understandable that some will wish to withdraw that measure of monetary support that they provide to the site generally. This is much the same way as, over time, some mods and admins become less happy about providing freely of their time and energies dealing with "behind the scenes" work (and abuse) much of which NEVER sees the light of day in public.
As the feedback in the thread has been seen and noted, maybe it is appropriate now to go back to the raising and addressing of individual current issues in separate threads in good faith and with a view to moving things forward in a constructive manner.
