I agree. Used to dislike it on another site, but grew to really dig it, and forums that don't have it now bug me.

How long has this been on? I haven't noticed it, and I thought I spent more time here than anybody.

Maybe It's because I do most of my browsing via thread and especially forum subscriptions, and don't spend much time on the main forum screens.

I don't like it. It keeps covering the titles that I'm reading. Can you right-justify the balloon-things? It wouldn't be so bad if they were covering the Views and Replies columns.

Fwiw, I've played it a bit and decided that I like it as well.

Love the new quote arrow too.

It seems to get in the way of other things I'm reading when I don't want it, or go away to fast when I do want it.

Re: The "first post" thingie-balloon-thing

I'll glad DVDTalk finally instituted it. Another forum I frequent has had it for a while, and I think it's a great feature. As others have mentioned, it's useful to find out what a thread is about without actually having to go into the thread - especially with threads with ever-so-informative titles such as "CHECK THIS OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

^ Because we get a lot of "CHECK THIS OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" threads around here.

I'd prefer it if the balloon showed the last post and not the first. It would be more beneficial, IMO.

What are you, on dial-up?

I don't like it. Covers up the other stuff I'm reading.

Double-dipping on the bitching!

I know I've already stated my dislike for this lovely "feature", but I wanted to come back - now that we've all had a few weeks to adjust - and proclaim my undying hatred of it. I use the scroll wheel on my mouse to navigate around, which may be part of why some people like it more than others. If I only used the scrollbar, my cursor would rarely venture into the area where the balloons popped up, except for when I was getting ready to click on a thread. But my way, the cursor is usually hovering around wherever my eyes are darting, so I get these stupid pop-up balloon pieces-of-pixal- crap all the time!! After a few weeks, I find I'm being "re-trained" to keep my cursor off to the right of the screen. Seriously, I know it's a small thing, but I'm finding it to be more of an irritant than I expected.

Re: The "first post" thingie-balloon-thing

I use the scroll wheel to navigate as well, but I guess I trained myself a long time ago to scroll with the cursor on the far left of the screen so it hasn't been an issue. I'm a big fan of the previews!

I tend to point where I'm looking as well while scrolling and hate this feature with a passion on every site that has it since it never seems to fail in getting in the way of what I'm reading or trying to click on. It really should be a user option and not mandatory.

Absolutely. I've given it a bit of time to "grow" on me...and it still sucks deep-fried donkey balls on a stick.

Hey...it's gone! COOL!

Oh...nevermind...it's back. I think it was because I wasn't signed in, or something...DAMN!!!
