What happened to the buttons for Bold, Italic, Underline, etc?

That's happening to me as well.

That is the default on most every board I have ever seen. Usually, people just want to see them in their control panel, and we'd rather fault on the error of sending too few emails than too many. You can set this up in your control panel settings so that when you reply it'll automatically be email reply. :)

I have a question: how do you insert text as a link? That is, a link that does not show the http address but rather underlined text than when clicked takes you to the target address?

Before you would click on "insert link" and were asked to include the text before specifying the address. Now it only asks for the http address.

Thanks.

The WYSIWYG editor is disabled for quick reply, but you should see it on a regular reply or a quote. If not, go to the 'User CP' and check your settings. Otherwise, you can do it why the oldschoolers do it:

I'll look into the getting logged out problem.

They show up when I quote or edit a post, but not at the bottom of the thread in the window I normally post in.

Ok. I'm just pointing out anything that is different than before. I fear change ;)

For anyone else: You can edit your preferences for that in User CP->Edit Options->Default Thread Description Mode (whew!)

Go here while logged in, http://forum.dvdtalk.com/profile.php?do=editoptions
Go down to Default Thread Subscription Mode and change it to what you prefer.

The admins and mods will all discuss what features we will and will not turn on or enable once IB has finished everything they need to do to get the site all configured on their end working and any bugs and such that pop up are corrected.

I think Pilot pretty much summed that up. Still, the admins and mods will be making their decision based on what they think is best for the community as a whole, not what they like / disslike. If they decide that it would make everyone happy to be able to have avatars, we'll turn them on and allow you to upload them. The issues in the past that discouraged that should no longer be issues.

The 'browser toolbar icon' seems to have disappeared.

It used to be a little DVDTalk logo and now it's just a folder looking thing (actually I'm not sure what it is). The logo graphic used to show up in the FireFox tabs also.

Kudos on the 'Post Quick Reply' without the full page reload

Dick,

Since you appear to be from IB, what's going on with the ads inside of posts? Are they staying, or going away?

*Edit - nevermind, it appears from the other post that it's only effecting people who aren't logged in. For some reason, it keeps making me login, and will not remember my password for the site or keep me logged in. Grrrr...

= J

Shoot. I thought I had replaced that image so it wouldn't get overwritten. I'll fix that up. It's the default vB favicon your seeing. FYI, it may take some time to uncache and show back up, but I'm changing the file back now.

That's what it's doing to me. If I log in, I'll stay logged in for that session, but as soon as I navigate away, it's as if the session expires, and when I return, I have to log in again.

Try losing your cookies if your login doesn't persist between sessions.

 how does barfing solve the login issue?

mndtrp 08-15-08 07:20 PM

I'm sure I'll find out sooner or later, but did anything change with browser inactivity marking threads read?

The quick reply and editing changes are very nice.

We can change this setting, but it increases server load and slows page load times. It might be troublesome on a board this large. I'll run it by the moderators.

Rogue588 08-15-08 07:51 PM

I'm kinda missing the "Mark Forums Read" link in the blue border on the bottom of the "Search Results" page.. :(

Chrisedge 08-15-08 08:00 PM

small avatars = cool
images in sig or big signatures = not cool

Numes 08-15-08 08:10 PM

Another  - The quoted text now also shows up in the e-mail notifications!
