This ad sucked, but I've dealt with horrible ads running through ad servers myself and it's a difficult issue to address. I understand and share people's frustrations over this ad, but honestly I don't hold it against them. I do hope they take the steps necessary to prevent this in the future as best they can, and based on the feedback they have received, my guess is that they will. |
That's certainly not in dispute.

(this post is coming from me, not as an admin of dvdtalk)
I wonder if I turned the ads off in the forum if they would notice. I'm sure they would eventually, then :johnwoo:me, then :banned: (it sure would be funny though) That's a joke in case anybody from IB reads this, but seriously, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to fix this stuff. If you don't fix stuff, you're going to piss off people. If you piss off people, they stop coming. If they stop coming, your investment turns to :crap: Simple. |

as if companies can forcefully shove advertising in our faces and that is effective? if anything its going to make me want to buy it less (and it has). im the type of person who will pay a little more if the salesman is nice rather than a pushy one - i have purposely not bought from people when i feel they are being pushy and annoying. and thats what this ad is doing. i will NOT buy this dvd ever. and to think there are people trying to find ways to get us to view their ads when we are giving them clear signs that we dont want to see it (popup ads for example). trust me, we dont want to see it and when they do shit like that, they are just making it worse! (i guess the only way this method works is when you are dwight trying to buy a car from andy...sorry just watched that episode last night :) ) |

Well, I'll be off now. Someone message me when this ad is gone.
|
Whoa! It seems to have disappeared just while I was reading this thread. When I got to page 10 it wasn't there... finally. Clicking around a little it seems to be gone from all pages. Talk about timing!
Sweet relief. edit: OK, I take it back. I just went to read the review of "Backyardigans: High Flying Adventure" and it's playing at the bottom of that page. The freaking Backyardigans! Talk about knowing your audience... |
Im off to watch Frontiers.. adios!

Hi folks,
My name is Steve and I'm the advertising director for Frontier(s). I've worked on a lot of projects like this over the years, and frankly this is the first campaign that's gotten so much attention. As you can imagine, we're all tickled pink. Thanks so much for all the feedback on the ad. And, if anybody has questions about the film, I'd be happy to answer them. I think it's great to see such an swell in interest in a European film. |

Groucho is a shill, he was sent here by IB as an advance surveillance force years ago to infiltrate the forum. I long suspected this, but until now had no proof.

Check out the front page of DVD Talk now! Lead story, complete with quotes from unnamed sources! This gets better by the minute.

I guess its less enticing to take the ad down when they're paying you a crapton of money.

This week we feature a film that isn't for the faint of heart: Frontier(s). After a group pulls off a daring heist, they hide out in a seemingly peaceful forum. But the mysterious forum owners are hiding a secret more terrifying than anything they could ever imagine. Trapped in an endless maze of internet banner ads crawling with pop-up trailers with loud screaming, they must fight to survive their bloody initiation into the new forum owner's evil advertising cult. Frontier(s) is the latest installment in the Horrible series of banner and pop-up ads released by Lions Gate Entertainment and is a "dripping piece of French imported crap that serves up the nausea for hardcore forum fans". Check out the trailer to this "memorable horror entry" that's filled with "style, energy and overall excess." No, really, check it out. You won't be able to avoid it anyway. |

I'm really glad that it's not one of those ads that follows you down the page or is peels down from the upper right corner. I wonder what the next forced campaign we are going to see is? |
I don't know FRONTIER(S) IS AWESOME but I bet it involves GO SEE IT TODAY some sort of I'VE NEVER SEEN ANY MOVIE LIKE IT embedded text in our posts.
|
Not sure what you guys are talking about. The DVDTalk Clip of the Week looks like it's for a different movie called Froniter(s).
