airsoft guns

getting ads for airsoft guns at the top of the forum. While this isn't a huge deal to me, i know the forum (and Geoff) is opposed to firearms in most rights. Just wanted to pass the word.

Its kinda funny coincidence that i just bought my first airsoft gun. The site has some cool looking ones. Plus A lot of people dont consider airsoft guns to be a real firearm.

As hinted by John Galt above, I think guns and gun talk are "ok" in the forum now that Geoff is no longer the owner. At least that's the general impression in Other.

Only a thread about shooting automatic weapons that went many pages. But's it's ok. Is that ok now? Or were the mods too "busy" to notice when that one stuck around for a few days?

Thanks for helping us maintain consistency. Perhaps if you had reported the thread it would have been closed sooner.

I didn't care if it stayed open or not. I thought the no gun talk rules had been lifted since it stayed open so long.

How about we just get rid of the rule since the only reason for it were the personal feelings of the now former owner of the board?

Reminds me of when Geoff didn't add the release of 'The Last Temptation of Christ' to the release list, but listed 'Southpark: Passion of the Jew'.....

When I first noticed the Airsoft ads, I too assumed the rule about not discussing firearms had been relaxed. I was certain of it when the automatic weapon thread in Other reached two pages.

While I don’t agree with Geoff’s point of view on firearms, I recognize that this is a privately owned internet forum and if I, or anyone else, don’t like the rules we are free to go elsewhere. There does seem to be a bit of ambiguity though especially considering the Gun Sight ad which is completely firearms related, as opposed to Airsoft. If Internet Brands or Geoff would like to chime in on the discussion, we could clear up the confusion.

You have to admit that it would seem strange that a member of the forum could potentially respond to the Gun Sight Institute ad, spend a weekend there having a blast putting lead downrange, then start a thread in Other to tell us all about it only to have it locked.

I've said this in other threads. I'm no longer the owner of DVD Talk, so for policies like 'no gun talk' you have to check with Internet Brands to see what they think. Since mods and admins like X are the voice of the forum leaders now I'd say they'll probably seek clarification to the rules.

The Issue with The Passion was it wasn't listed on the site because Fox refused to send review copies. It's not because I'm anti-christian, I'm not. The worse I can be accused of in this space is that I have a healthy disdain for over commercialized holidays and the way which people use their 'beliefs' to oppress others. It's not specific to any religion.
