Quote tags = no post?

I just tried posting a [quote] and its url in the movie forum. When it returned me to my post it was completely blank, no text no url. Once I removed the [quote] tags it showed up. What gives?

Don't know about your situation, but I notice on vBulletin boards, when you reply to a post, it will only quote the most recent one and not include if there's a quote within the previous post. (if that makes any sense)

It's not a DVDTalk problem (I don't think), but more something in vBulletin's code.

My guess: you didn't properly close the quote.

Like, you did:

[ QUOTE ] blah blah blah [ QUOTE ]

...instead of:

[ QUOTE ] blah blah blah [ /QUOTE ]

Yeah, I've experienced the same because of exactly what Tyler illustrated, not closing the quote properly.

But the entire post was empty. I've messed up the closing before...it was just weird to me. The url, which was outside of the quote wasn't even showing up. It seems to be fine now.

The way the site handles unproperly formatted quotes had changed a few weeks ago. You used to get a weirdly formatted post, but after the change you'd get no post at all; even the parts outside the quoted area wouldn't show up.

Again, I've experienced this a few times the past month or so, and every time is was because I hadn't properly closed a quote, as Adam Tyner pointed out.

It looks like now the site has been updated so that unclosed quotes still show up, just not as quotes.
