Didn't see the answers in the FAQ. Just curious about a couple things.

When exactly are the email notifications sent out? If I edit a post right away, does the edited or original version get sent out?

When does the software decide to insert the "last edited by" postscript? I've noticed that if I edit right away it does not get placed. Is it a time thing, or whether another user has viewed the thread?

Why do mod edits not necessarily have this disclaimer at the bottom? Seems to me that anytime a post if edited by someone else it should be noted.

Has anyone else been getting fewer email notifications? Lately, a few threads that I am subscribed to are not sending me emails when they are updated.

AFAIK the "last edit" notification is time-based with a window of around two minutes from the original posting during which you can change your bon mots without it appearing.

Mod edits should always show the disclaimer. My understanding is that only administrators can do invisible edits.

I don't subscribe to threads and so don't receive email notifications. However, I do know that there has been a problem with the board email lately. Last I heard it had been fixed but maybe Geoff will see this and chime in.

I guess it would be easy to test, but it would take two people. Anyone else really bored, or curious?

Well, I imagine I'm subscribed to this one, since I have it set to automatically do that, but as of now, I'm not getting the email. Maybe part of that other "problem" where I swear lots of notification emails don't get sent.

So I never received any email notifications on this thread, but I finally solved this little mystery.

The emails are sent out in the first minute.

I just got an email notification on a thread, and the email contained the original post before it was quickly edited. It was edited in the first minute, because the post did not have the "edited" notam at the bottom.

Of course I can't be totally sure if you get the original, or one of multiple edits made in that first minute.......

But at least we know that the emails are sent out in that first minute, at least this time......
