Question about locked threads?
I just noticed twikoff's 'what I hate/peanut butter in the refrigerator' thread was locked without any responses. Silly question, but why?
No responses, nobody was insulting anybody, there were no personal attacks etc. It's not a duplicate thread as far as I know. Just curious.
I'm sure I'm probably overlooking some obvious violation, but he is the prez
afterall.
So what gives?

I think it was due to his misspelling of "refrigerate". Some of the mods are real spelling nazis.

This may seem silly to some of you, but I've always thought that it's a good idea for a mod to reply to a thread stating the reason that it's being closed, and then after they post that explanation then they lock it.

Just a one line explanation is plenty.

I thought it was locked because it was posted as a joke. Someone in another thread was talking about how we've run out of topics for threads and said that they would never want to read a thread about hardened peanut butter from the fridge. He posted the thread shortly thereafter. It's like the threads with parody titles and no real content that they lock. I agree that explanations would be helpful though.

It didn't take long for it to get locked because as I was replying, it was already locked. I guess I'll have to wait for the next peanut butter thread to come along

Well... I was gonna mention that my peanut butter jar says to refrigerate. But it's the natural kind and it spreads very smooth without damage to the bread. I understand your view about peanut butter wrecking the bread.
But I agree, if it doesn't have to be refrigerated, you should not have to put it there. My ex-wife would always put the catsup in the fridge and I'd try to tell her "Where on the label does it says to? Also you always see catsup on the table at restaurants".

Seven threads on the first page and the last one put there just to have another thread should be pretty much a no-brainer in terms of why it's closed. The OP seems to know that.
And as this thread has veered away from being forum feedback and has become more suited for Other I'm closing it. If the peanut butter subject is worthy of discussion someone can start that thread in the Other Forum.
