Plus, I always think it's funny when forum users get full of themselves like this is the Senate or something. We talk about DVDs. Get over it.
But DVDs are serious damn it!!!

They will waive the fee for services rendered. Or so I've been told.

Wow this thread started out like DVD Talk - The E! True Hollywood Story. Don't know why the OP wanted to take a big ass dump on this place. The funny thing he did it JUST after I paid to add another server to the mix.
I don't think I need to explain myself when it comes to DVD Talk's rules, but I did think that many of you would be interested in hearing that it does cost even more than the OP speculated to run this site every year. We have 5 servers and consume a fuckload of bandwidth. But if money were the key then making the long overdue 'paid membership option' a reality would have happened YEARS ago. Also after slaving away for more than 8 years, if money were the goal we would have done what almost every other major DVD site has done (sold themselves to the highest bidder). Since we launched we've seen.
DVD File get sold twice (they are now owned by Gorilla Nation)
Rotten Tomatoes get sold to IGN
TVshowsonDVD get sold to TV Guide
Television without Pity sold to Yahoo
But that's not the path we've gone down. This site wasn't created for some sort of eventual pay day.
Also most other entertainment sites run full page interstitals, skin their site to promote movies and have advertising which regularly interrupts the reader's experience. We've often passed up lucrative ads because we knew that it would piss off our free readers.
Ultimately I think we've proven as a site that our focus is to be of value and service to our readers. To have a site full of useful and relevant information and have a forum where people can come to have a reasonable and 'safe' space to discuss things with out being assaulted by rude members or over active moderation. It's all a real balance and we do the best job we can.
But most of you know that... because you've been here, you've seen how we deal with things and how we run this site.

I am confused...Mike left because he thought Geoff wasn't getting enough money from ad revenue to pay for his membership fees and wanted to become a stripper?
Well, if that's what he wants...

Personally, this site gives me so much information and entertainment, a $30 a year membership fee would be a bargain.
