I read in one thread that people have made contributions/donations to DVDtalk and I couldn't find anything about that. I know AVS has something where you get to put your picture up as an avatar but...was just curious if DVDtalk had something similar.

I think they stopped as the only real way to do it was through Paypal, and they can't do that anymore as Paypal won't allow itself to be used on sites that have adult content.

It would be nice if we could even just mail Geoff a check or money order. I'd gladly donate.

They are referencing the "Premium Membership" which Geoff once threw out as an option (has to be a couple of years back, now) that would give you rights to an avatar and no ads. Nothing ever came of it. The person who said they didn't see ads because they paid their $30 was being sarcastic (and poking a little fun at Geoff for never instituting the Premium Membership notion).

I think not being able to use paypay was what put the nail in the coffin of the premium membership.

That and the bandwith for the forums having issues just running as is now...(though that has gotten better in the past month or two).
