Please, point out where I wasn't civil to you. I was simply stating that if you are going to state that what I said is "full of inaccuracies and you don't know where to begin", back it up. Then, you were acting condesending and stating that my statements were basically laughable. You state that I was belittling your religion and mocking you. Again, I ask, where did I do that? Just because I have the opinion that the Bible is a fake document that has no historical standing does not make that mocking or belittling; it is called an opinion. If you can't make that distinction, then please, stay out of any threads that have any sort of debate about serious topics.

You've failed to even back up your comments that I've requested, only proving that you either: a) can't legitimately back up what you belive or b) that you purposely singled me out more for the fact of what when on with your S.O. somewhere else than what I said. It was just an opportunity for you to post something about me when there wasn't anything before.

Either case, the simple fact is you avoided the question. You singled me out when there was no comment directed at or towards you. I'm willing to listen to what you have to say, but until that time, you have no validity in anything you say.

His argument back to you was not only non-derisive, but it even posed questions back at you which you conveniently ignored while you hid under the "you're mocking and belittling" umbrella. To him and to everyone else, your argument and point of view IS INVALID because you've done nothing to explain it, as you've skirted questions about it left and right.

Nobody was ever rabidly attacking you. In fact, I'd say we've all done our best to keep you and your boyfriend separate and only attack him after he went off the deep end and started telling everyone to fuck off.

Let your boyfriend fight his own fight. It's clear given his behavior that he doesn't deserve to be a member of either community.

My recommendation is to restart the thread. Between the intentionally bad posts, the responses to those posts and the joke posts it looked like it would take longer to sort through and split-out all those then I have time/energy for right now.

Please don't derail this thread with your own agenda. It's okay to feel hurt because you were rejected but I think it's best that you move on.

Let's talk about getting this thread reopened because it was a worthwhile thread that many of us were enjoying before shoppingbear and toolboy went nutso on us.

I think the bad posts should be removed by a moderator. The thread shouldn't have to be recreated.

Yep we are supposed to decide what stays open, what gets locked, what's allowed by the rules and what's not. In that role it's my determination that the thread should remain locked because if I start making judgement calls about what's split out and what's not someone will inevitably get upset and then we'll be back here debating whether or not specific posts should have been restored. It's a whole lot easier IMHO to allow people to restart the topic if they so choose. It's easy enough to copy/paste posts from the old thread if someone wishes to continue making a specific point.

What the hell are you talking about? If you look at the bear-deftones exchange, it was bear who was upping the ante with each exchange, not Def. And then Tool came in on post 143 and started taking potshots. Tell me again how we dragged anything here?

It was pretty obvious which posts didn't belong in the thread and which did.

If you just don't wanna deal with splitting the good posts out (or deleting the bad ones), just say so. As an ex-admin of a large message board, I'd actually respect that more than the "judgment call" line. :)

I think it's time to just let it go. I'm all for good internet debates, but this isn't even one. It's one sided. I'm trying to get information to continue a respectful debate about a topic of interest, and the other side wants to turn that into me belittling and mocking them.

Once the thread started to go down hill there were still a couple of people who tried to continue w/ the original conversation as well as some other who started posting jokes/non-related info, so a judgement call would have to be made about all of those. Trust me I started doing it and I got to the point where I didn't feel like finishing it. Beisdes in case you haven't noticed the conversation has been restarted so this thread is moot at this point.

Really? :lol: We all know that's not true, and you have no idea how many Islanders have APOLOGIZED to me for your behavior especially, along with Deftones'. You're the one who started a whole "So did you bang her?" thread, just to piss off Tool. Must be hard to understand why someone would be a gentleman and NOT want to share that info... certainly from what I've heard, there aren't any gentlemen at the Island.

For the poster who asked, the Island is a side forum, populated by a bunch of misfits who mostly make fun of all of you here, including Geoff, X, and the other mods. Because no one there expects word to get out, they think they can say the most obnoxious, mean, disrespectful, and vile things there, and no one else will find out.

Unfortunately, in the REAL WORLD, people don't like hearing their friends mocked, and since I've never insulted anyone there at the Island (argueably until today :lol: ), people told me what was said. My friends there, and I, are real people who don't like being attacked. Your loss that the result is that my friends at the Island have more loyalty to human beings like myself, than to your "forum code" over at the Island. Maybe if you did something BESIDES attack others, there would be more loyalty... but everyone there is just wondering when it's their turn. :shrug:

Guilty as charged... almost. It was what was said about me, what was done to insult me and my friends, at that "somewhere else". Tool doesn't need my defending and that's not what I was doing. You come across here at Otter as very arrogant, and I still maintain that you didn't state it as "your opinion"... you stated it (as Das Monkey pointed out is generally done) in a "Christians are idiots unless they PROVE to me otherwise".
