Why Are Some Threads Closed?

Howdy, mods and admins. Sometimes when you guys close a thread, it is for obvious reasons -- it's run its course, or it's turned into a flame war, or whatever. Usually you're pretty good about explaining the rationale behind closing a thread.

But if there are cases where it is not apparent -- is it considered improper or impolite to come here to the Feedback forum and ask why a thread was closed? Especially if it is not your own?

I was wondering why the Michael Jackson supporter (the crying man) thread was closed. Don't really need an answer, just wondering.

my guess would have been the "gay" connotation
some members here might find that offensive

Well, if we're going to shut down anything with a "gay" connotation... I'll never get to post.

From what I've seen, they prefer if you e-mail the mod who closed the thread, rather than posting about it here.

Yeah, but that takes forever. And then no one else gets to share in the fun.
