It's Not My Style to Call People on the Carpet But...

I really have to ask--what the hell was Dead thinking upon closing this thread?:

http://www.dvdtalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=424437

It's was a lot of fun (1/2 reason I thought this forum existed--fun and information), there was no fighting, and despite Dead's assertions otherwise, it was NEVER off-topic; every post fed directly into the thread title. And this thing about padding post counts--what? What does that even mean? And is that really a more important consideration than the fact that everyone was having good, clean fun in the thread? I realize I'm never gonna agree 100% with what the moderators do around here (let's be honest, not by a country mile, usually), but this case really blows my mind. Do the other moderators really support this decision? Sorry to call you out, Dead, I'm not trying to pick a fight, I just can't help but think that if fun, clean, no fighting, on-topic threads are gonna get arbitrarily shut down now, what's next???
