Return of the King ad stops my browser

Anyone else having to reload everytime you get the "THE KING RETURNS / THE QUEST CONTINUES" LOTR: ROTK flash ad? It stops the loading of any content below it, and basically halts everything until it's done playing. Takes 20-25 seconds. Happened to me all day. 5 times just in the past few minutes in the feedback forum.

.... Finally a victim of subject editing.

(And the real irony is that i got the ROTEK ad while trying to reply to this thread. And yet again it stopped the page from loading.)

Slows down my browser (Firefox 1.0) too as long as the "flames" in the ad are visible.

Yep, on my P3 733mhz machine it sucks up 100% of my CPU and just hangs the page. On my P4 2.8ghz machine, it doesn't affect a thing.

Yeah, while this ad runs, I cant surf here at all. The damn thing feels like it takes like three hours to load! I could watch the movie in the time that it takes for the ad to finish it's cycle.

Just one more reason for me to hate lord of the rings, I guess.

My CPU load also goes straight to 100% when this ad is on-screen. I just refresh and move on. Speaking of annoying ads, there was one popup that I always used to get here that had some kind of javascript error. The popup would have a 404 message in it and there would be a seperate error message box that I would have to close as well. My popup blocker never caught it. Thankfully, I don't think I've had that problem since the upgrade.

Never mind on this, I know notice what people are talking about. It just is not as bad on a T1 line as opposed to a DSL line. The problem I see is that it is a flash file that has to completely download and render before it continues with the rest of the download of the web page. Maybe there shouldn't be any flash files for ads.

The ad completely freezes my work computer for about twenty seconds. It is starting to make me look back fondly at the second film, something I doubted was possible. It is evil. The following swearing is not supported by myself in most cases and is only used when under extreme duress.

#$%$@^&&&*%$%@#$#@!!!#$

Thank you.

Freezes my home and work computer, though a refresh gets rid of it

I've been trying to figure out if it is the Return of The King ad or the ad that comes after the first message that is dragging me down to a crawl. Have fixed it for now that when I visit DVDTalk I go into my I.E. and click off all multimedia including "show pictures". I can still read messages and I cruise pretty fast in here now!

DVDTalk has certainly dropped in quality since the upgrade. My IE freezes too when that damn ROTK banner ad is playing.

I can understand the need for advertising but this is truely ridiculous.

When I see that "The King Returns" bit, I hit refresh as soon as I can. Otherwise, my page will take a few minutes to load...

Argh...this ad does completely suck. I've never had an ad do this to me on any website before. (IE 6)
