If we get these I'm gonna have a nice Laker avatar just for Twikky!

mikehunt 12-06-04 09:28 PM

odd, this is the only forum I frequent with such a hatred for avatars

For the time being, I thought I would choose something unobtrusive. Maybe I'll switch it around and try out the MSN icon tomorrow.

Buford T Pusser 12-06-04 11:14 PM

Avatars allow me to express myself in a personal and creative way.

BizRodian 12-06-04 11:39 PM

I like nice ones... people tend to use shitty ones though. :P

Don't care too much either way.

Bacon 12-07-04 02:57 AM

no on avatars, I don't wanna have to stare at El Scorcho's (Lakers) Avatar ;)

j/k I like avatars,

PS if avatars are allowed for everyone please ban Preacher or at least prevent him from having a Bama logo avatar, other wise we'll see that damn Bama logo all day :yack:

:p

matome 12-07-04 08:34 AM

I like 'em as well, just as long as they stay icon sized and aren't animated. Pictures in the sig lines though...that's another story. Those just blow. That's where the clutter comes from.

AGuyNamedMike 12-07-04 08:59 AM

I vote YES for avatars. As has been said, people can turn them off in the cp. I also think that limiting them by pixel size and file size is vital. Perhaps if we ever do get a premium membership such limitations could be expanded. Pictures in the sig? No offense, but homemade banners in sigs are my forum peeve.

Edited my post to make my stance on sig pics more evident. :)

I'm not much of a fan of the avatars (but can tolerate them if they're very small and without animation), but holy God, those personal banners destroy forums.

Is it possible that this is the only forum you frequent where over 84% of the visitors are 35 or older?

Same here. Another vote for Yes on Proposition Avatar!

Excellent!

Although I'm not too fond of avatars since most are annoying as hell. A subtle avatar might be ok, but I doubt most will do that.

FantasticVSDoom 12-07-04 11:08 AM

After seeing Rogue's Avatar, I am officially against Avatars...

Preacher 12-07-04 11:23 AM

I would seriously consider becoming a regular on the Veggie Board if we go the way of Avatars. At least there the topic of "meat sweats" might instill a stampede.

I agree with this point.. subtlety works. But we will get so many large, loud anime avatars and eye piercing animated craps. My eyes will bleed.

A 48x48 or 60x60 limit would be nice, and no (or little) animation would help keep the forum looking as professional as it is.. but I'm not sure how hard that would be to enforce.

Geoff's testing with a 50x50 and 2000 byte limit.

Word.

I can only hope X is joking around with his, because it's proof that 100x100 would be terrible.
