What do you like about v3?

I like be able to view 40 posts per page... IMO opinon more is always bettter, although I dont know what the standard was before...

kilcher 12-05-04 07:20 AM

You can adjust that in your user cp under options.

Sloth911 12-05-04 07:46 AM

I know, that is why i metioned it.

twikoff 12-05-04 07:56 AM

i like the ability to quickly check/uncheck show sig in the quick reply

if only quick reply worked ;)

Sloth911 12-05-04 08:00 AM

its not really that "quick", i wonder why you have to click that button first?

chrisih8u 12-05-04 08:20 AM

I like how when you have your mouse over a thread, a little box pops up and shows what the first post says.

okay... that's kind of cool, but it doesn't seem to work consistently

chrisih8u 12-05-04 08:22 AM

Also, the "Go to last post" button next to the last poster is pretty good.

ScottyWH 12-05-04 08:23 AM

ScottyWH 12-05-04 08:35 AM

okay... I like that... that you can link to an individual post without linking the thread... not sure why I'd ever want to use it since I think linking the post within the thread is more helpful (context and all), but it seems cool nonetheless...

kilcher 12-05-04 08:36 AM

It's not too bad. When you link to the individual post there's a link to the thread in the upper right hand corner if people want to go read it in context.

twikoff 12-05-04 08:59 AM

you were always able to link to a direct post.. but it was soo damn much work before

this way is great in my opinion..
there are times i will want someone to go check a specific post in a thread.. and they pretty much have to hunt for it

its nice to be able to quick and easy send them a direct link

Yeah, I mean, I have used the direct link to a post thing a lot before, but it always linked it within the thread... not seperated like this.... kind of cool (as an option)

Th0r S1mpson 12-05-04 09:32 AM

No "report htis post to a mod" button

(that I've seen so far, any way)

Also, it appears that smileys are middle-aligned, not bottom.

It's the triangular icon to the left of the post with an exclamation point in it. It won't show up on your own posts.

on the far left, under username
triangle with a ! in it

Groucho 12-05-04 10:14 AM

You have always been able to view the forum 40 posts to a page. I've had that set up since forever.

As for new features, I love that you can uncheck "Show your signature" right in Quick Reply. This was something I've wanted for a long time now.

Is there a full list of the new features somewhere?

Mok 12-05-04 10:24 AM

I like how the site looks fonts are at a excellent size, I use strain sometimes to read posts. Great work.

Wizdar 12-05-04 10:35 AM

Are the buttons still hosted on a seperate site? ads.kleinman.con is blocked at my work. With the advanced quick reply, I don't have to worry if I've got my html tags correct.

fumanstan 12-05-04 12:05 PM

I like being able to click on everyone's user name individually, rather then the Profile button before. A little cleaner.

i was just thinking they were too annoyingly large

dork 12-05-04 12:15 PM

There's a lot I don't like, but I do admit that the way quoting works now is pretty cool. If any of you bozos ever say anything worth repeating it'll really come in handy.

Wizdar 12-05-04 12:31 PM

Am I the only one who thinks the icon for "Report Bad Post" should be changed to a rolled-up newspaper?

I like that I can now see the buttons (reply, quote, etc) without having to shut off my McAfee Internet Security.

Brent L 12-05-04 01:01 PM

I just noticed something new that I love:

When you get email letting you know someone responded to a thread you subscribed to, it includes in the email the actual message that was posted.

UWSarge 12-05-04 02:16 PM

I noticed on polls now, you can click on the results to see who voted for which option. So...no more anonymous voting....

twikoff 12-05-04 02:18 PM

i havent tried setting up a new poll yet
but i believe someone said thats an option you can setup when you start the poll

Big Worms 12-05-04 02:36 PM

Search This Thread option.

MasterofDVD 12-05-04 02:38 PM

It'll take some real time to get used to thins but I think I'll adjust. The links below the first post is the worst part of it so far.

steebo777 12-05-04 02:47 PM

I like everything about this new layout. Much cleaner IMO.

TomOpus 12-05-04 02:51 PM

Things are looking better with the tweaks Geoff is making.

Agreed. This is something I had been hoping for.
I like the quote box better than the old way, but that's barely worth mentioning.

As someone else mentioned it's an option for whoever starts the poll.
