Locked threads without an explanation?
I just had a thread closed and locked, and the moderator didn't say why? Can I get an explanation?

Regardless, it would be nice if that was said in thread as it was locked.

Sorry about that, might be an unwritten rule.

While part of me understands the reasoning behind this, another part wonders if maybe understanding why some people are banned would help other people in knowing what is and is not acceptable and therefore prevent more people from being banned.

DVDTalk does not ban members quickly or for trivial reasons. Usually you are either doing a very obvious bad thing (multiple accounts, spamming, etc.) or you have been given several warnings about your behavior. There's really no need to 'educate' people about why members have been banned. Don't break the rules, listen to warnings, and you should be golden.

The logic behind this (and it makes sense) is that it isn't fair to discuss/make fun of members who are not here to defend themselves.
