Why is Passion of the Christ not on release list??

Hi,

I do not see 'The Passion of the Christ' on the DVD 'Coming Soon' list for DVDtalk.

Is this an oversight or an intentional ommission?

I thought that it came out on 8/31.

BTW - 'Southpark: Passion of the Jew' is on it.

Its just my understanding that this site if for informational purposes. I use it as my main source of DVD info.

Either they are being incompetent for missing such a big release or letting their politcal/religious views influence which DVDs they advertise. Either way, I am very disappointed.

If I am incorrect in this, then I apologize.

I would like to know who doesn't know that the film is coming out to DVD on 8/31. All the video stores near my house (Blockbuster, Hollywood, etc.) all have huge posters displaying that the film is coming out 8/31.

Myself, I couldn't care less. As long as I get my hands on The Girl Next Door (Unrated) tomorrow, I'm happy.

Why would their political views influence whether to advertise POTC? Religous views maybe. Will they be selling this disc at the Republican Convention or something?

Political can mean a variety of things. I will edit to better clarify.

po·lit·i·cal - Based on or motivated by partisan or self-serving objectives

I think it's a fair question he's asking. I mean, who doesn't know that a lot of the listed releases are coming out WHEN they're coming out. That coming soon link provides a lot of referral $ for the site, and you'd think they'd have a link for the film.

I hadn't noticed it before now, but it would seem this is just a HUGE oversight.

Yeah, it is a big release, but DVDtalk's list should be a comprehensive list no matter what their views.

For instance, they include such titles as Farenheit 9/11 and Southpark: Passion of the Jew. They are controversial titles also that I believe should be on their list even though I do not agree with the topics or filmmakers.

I don't know about that.

Given the review that Kleinman gave the movie when it was in theaters, my guess is that is not an oversight, but I hope that I am wrong.

It will be interesting to see if they fix it and/or provide reviews of the DVD.

They also omit every single WWE disk that comes out, despite every wrestling thread getting thousands of views.

I smell a conspiracy!

I had wondered when the release date was as well. Still don't find it here, but found it elsewhere. I never go to BB or Hollywood Video, so I don't see those signs.

Thanks for the confirmation!

I sent an email to the site owner that informs him of this oversight.

Hey, sometimes a website screws up. Guess what, the site owner is only human and considering the hundreds of titles that come out and are anounced daily it's not that shocking that one or two of them slip by the cracks.

I agree and if it is purely an oversight, then I apologize. Again, I have emailed them, notifying them of it. We will see if they add it.

It just seems like such a big release to be an oversight. And, since Southpark: Passion of a Jew is on there, doesn't it seem like that would have reminded them about POTC?

rock...i think you are intentionally trying to make a big deal out of nothing! it would seem that you are fervent trying to create a political/religious controversy over a silly issue like a website gone slightly askew the past day or so. POTC was always on their list so for it to be not there now, is absolutely a glitch in the system.
One of the "Zombie" releases used to be there and fell off somehow. Do you think that behemouth of religious and political controversy was ceremoniously dumped because of the DVD Talk powers that be having an agenda?

why don't you e-mail them about all the other ommissions that were there, suddenly left, and came back again instead of creating nothing into something? Also, giving us well known links to buy the disc as if we (DVD Talkers) were so incapabale doesn't help your fight to get the word out if you know what i mean. you come off as a zealot by doing that.

You mean this site is now Anti-Zombie?! How shocking. I would have expected this sort of base covering at HTF but never at DVDTALK!

I know this will be lost on you, but people can dislike "The Passion of the Christ" and still not be against Christ Himself.

Ok, this thread is starting to get weird and nasty. I'm sure it's just an oversight.

Can a moderator see if the title can be added so members can preorder it through the site if they'd like?

This has nothing to do with liking or disliking Christianity. Let's not let this get out of hand.

Good Grief.

I noticed the same omission and wondered the same thing. I hope this thread will provide an answer.

It does seem awfully suspicious. It'd be nice to have an answer.

I wonder on the "What are you buying on Sept 21st?" thread if the Star Wars trilogy will be "accidentally" omitted.

Jesus! why are people making such a big deal out of this? Most likely it was just lost in a glitch or an update. Nothing hidden in it and creating such drama for a mistake is rather silly if you ask me. I agre with scott. No need to make it such a big deal. Point it out and then if you get a response like "I don't believe in god, go away christian scum" or something like that then don't jump to a conclusion that this is because of any political or religious reasons from the site owner.

Well it WAS one of the biggest movies of the year!

(btw, I'm more angry about the WWE releases always being omitted.)
