Passion of the Christ release??

The thinking behind selecting titles for our coming soon list is that most people don't want a list of ALL the DVDs coming out every week as it's a pain in the ass to sort through price reductions, specialty product and full frame versions.
ALL real publications have some sort of editorial voice. Each week we focus on certain title which we select as notable. Other sites or publications might select different ones. You're more than welcome to use another sites resource if it fits your needs better, we have a specific focus and will continue that focus.
Also this crap with The Passion is exactly that. CRAP.

To those who suspected that the Passion thing was some sort of DVDTalk related flap, I gotta say Geoff operates with the highest of integrity. Not once has he EVER suggested anything should be customized in terms of editorial content or altering of opinion. Hats off to him since I'm sure he gets pressure from studios (something he never passes on to reviewers, which is another check in his plus column.)

Knowing the DVD Talk Review Panel, I'm sure someone on that panel is going to rent/buy the disc and submit a review anyway. But we'll see.

5 star replay value?
It was a good film for what it was, a passion play, but the violence is not something I would want to watch over and over. I can't think of a less rewatchable film than this one.
I realize this is a film that moves emotions in Christians, but if I'm going to choose a film about Jesus and give it the DVD Talk Collector's Series its going to be the excellent Jesus of Nazareth or thought provoking Last Temptation of Christ. This film is nothing more than pure shock value to shake up people.

Last I checked DVDtalk was free... Your not paying for it, so stop with the whining. If you don't like it, go to the other DVD websites which list Passion as coming out. You obviously arn't much of a DVD fan if you didn't even know when POTC was coming out (I have NO intentions of EVER seeing this movie and I knew it was coming out)

Well lets be honest static, that review for reply value is a bit one sided. Can we get Kevin smith to review it? I want to hear a lot of "FUCK" in the review for passions.
the collectors series review should be saved for when the Collectors edition comes out that will most likely have extras and so forth.
Then again I disagree with a lot of the reviews.
Look at the first disc of Azumanga and look at the reviews now. Shows I was right.

Maybe it has more to do with Kim Morgan, who has less than twenty reviews, but has already given out a "DVD Talk Collectors' Series" rating FIVE times... twice to movies that were still in theaters and weren't even on DVD yet!

Seriously though, ratings vary from reviewer to reviewer, so take everything with a grain of salt. I personally thought Challenge of the Superfriends was worth a "Highly Recommended" rating, and got some nasty email because it was a "lame" show that "only had commentary on two episodes", etc.. It's all relative. As in, all of my relatives hate me.

I don't know if I'm understanding you, but if by "one sided," you mean "one person's (possibly biased) opinion," then of course the review is one-sided.

But still, she is hot and I learned to agree with hot chicks a long time ago no matter what the topic.

It's a clear example that no matter what you do, someone will find fault in it.

It's one person's opinion of a film, not a dialogue between him and others (unless that person's name is Siskel, Ebert, or Roeper).

Well, I suppose I was trying to get at is that perhaps a review that isn't from someone close to the source or devoted to it. Say that example of Azumanga. I loved the show before the dvd hit. So having me review it would be terrible for grammar purposes but most of all it wouldn't be open minded enough to make a solid review of it.
The reviewer did a good job of telling it how it is with azumanga vol 1 and you see how they expand that review through the rest of the volumes.
For a high rank like this to come from a film with no extras seems very odd to say the least.
But then agian having people claim that gkleinman had some sort of secret agenda behind not having this on the coming soon list seems beyond stupid.
Oh well, can't win them all.
