The choice to add new subforums isn't always about how trafficked they will be. Part of the issue has to do with moderation.
Really, one of the BIG reasons we haven't rushed ahead with this is the feeling that a politics subforum would be an area requiring EVEN MORE moderation, and that if people had an area to rant about politics, they'd be more apt to really rant.

Whether anyone remembers or not, I've always been against this, but ultimately it doesn't matter much. However, one of the main reasons I was against this was because of the gray area. Do all news threads go there? Threads like the Russian hostage crisis or the Indonesian election? What about threads on the economy? I am just trying to get some clarification. My inclination is for all news/current events topics to go there, but will follow whatever protocol is set. Thanks.

haha, stupid twikoff bot is too fast for me. that went to the OTHER secret forum.
the Venusian Forum is what the mods renamed the War Forum before it was put out of its misery. i've been searching around the mod forum looking for the secret door to it but can't find it yet

No offense, but that really isn't much of a clarification. Where do threads go concerning newly released unemployment figures? What about a thread regarding German elections? What about happenings in Afghanistan and Pakistan? All of these things can very easily, and probably should, include references to our President, which in turn may lead to comments concerning the elections. So I will ask again: should all political/current events/geopolitical news threads go in that forum?

it was supposed to be vague
if you know the thread is going to turn into an election related thread, put it in the forum. if it turns into one, the mods will try to move it.
all political threads don't have to go there, but i'm guessing a majority of them will since everything these days revolves around the election.
maybe we can make it like obscenity, i can't define it but i know it when i see it (or however it went).

It's possible some current event threads might stay far enough away from politics that they should probably stay in Other.
