PLEASE HELP! Which groups are safe to make fun of?

This is getting confusing so I'm hoping you all can help me out. I don't want to make a joke about the wrong group and wind up being suspended and having my character attacked* on this public forum. Obviously it's acceptable to joke about French people and Arabs. Jews are out. Blacks are probably out. What other groups are in? Thanks in advance for your help.

Why isn't this in the Feedback forum? Also, why didn't you try emailing a mod first?

How is it acceptable to joke about Arabs in kind to the "joke" you quoted above?

Are you just a concerned member or were you asked by somebody to make this inquiry?

Its not cool against anyone or group.

What really comes from it but friction in a place that is here to be fun?

I wasn't sure what forum to put this in. I did report it to a mod first.

The joke that gareth made was not mean spirited. Everyone has heard the very common stereotype that "Jewish people are cheap". Similar to "British people have bad teeth" or "French people are snobs". I have joked about British people having bad teeth on several occasions, but I am definitely not anti-British. I've seen people joke about British and French people on this forum almost daily with no consequences. I KNOW that gareth is not anti-Semitic, but he was banned because of an apparent double standard.

I'm just a concerned member. I know that gareth enjoys posting here and he was banned for a bogus reason.

I don't think being banned for having multiple usernames is a bogus reason. But thanks for your concern.

But it says otherwise in the post linked above.

I was one of the ones most vocal against his little "joke". However, I don't think he deserved to be banned for it. If, however, the banning was for another reason, it's another thing entirely.

Are you implying that I'm "gareth"? I assure you that I'm not. Besides, I thought he was "Banned for anti-semetic remarks -" as indicated in the thread I posted above.

I think the best targets are people who get "offended" without significant cause and people without a sense of humor.

Also, Whitey, the WNBA fan, and the aforementioned damn dirty apes. Damn dirty humans too, come to think of it.

No, I was in no way implying that you're Bill Posters. Yeah, I see the new edit to the thread you linked now. I think the locked thread would have been the end of it if not for an email and some other discoveries.

As P.J. O'Roarke says: (paraphrased for brevity)
" A Republican will say you should make fun of someone but a Democrat will say you can't; which everyone that has heard a Helen Keller joke knows is not true!"

You know, I've never really found the need to make fun of ANY group in order to enjoy posting here. But maybe that's just me.

Can we all agree that it's okay to make fun of hobbits? I mean their feet are big and hairy. BIG AND HAIRY, PEOPLE!
