Question about using affiliate links
Tonight, I went to www.bn.com (Barnes & Noble's site), put a bunch of books in my shopping cart, and then remembered that DVD Talk has an affiliate link to the store. I closed my browser, opened up DVD Talk, clicked on the BN affiliate link, and finished my order. Did DVD Talk benefit as much as compared to if I would have emptied my cart, and started over from scratch with the affiliate link? Just curious as to how the whole thing works.
And also, does it help if we just use the affiliate links to browse, or do we have to actually buy something from the store for DVD Talk to benefit?

The way I see it, an affiliate link is not the same as an ad that pays on clickthrough.
So you'd need to buy for that small percentage to find its way through to GK.
Of course only he knows for sure.

99.9% sure you have to buy.
But I've often been curious if a percentage of my purchase was actually going to the site. Would be nice if there were something on your checkout page or a way to know for sure.

I almost always click over to amazon for example after I put something in my cart then complete the sale afterwards.
I hope I have not been screwing up

Of course I wish we could know that amazon really was paying on those orders- they lose promo GC's and share the love discounts on a regular basis so why not lose affiliate sales also

I would be willing to forward to Geoff every order as I make them to make sure. of course that would probably be crazy for Geoff to handle.
