Avatars?

Other forums have avatars to place under the user name of its users. Do you think this would work for DVDTalk?

I think it's another one of those server load issues.

Ahhh I see, well I guess I'll just stick to animtated GIFs

Besides lord knows what kind of imagery youd have posters using as avatars.

Well, if they were linked off-site then there would be no issue. Personally, I dislike avatars because people inevitably use animated gifs and it's visually distracting.

well, even if they were hosted off site.. that slow down the site for users that arent on broadband.. and this site gets way too much traffic for that kindof slowdown

I'm tired of catering to the dial-up users. It's not 1994 anymore, losers!

I got love for you guys. So much so, I tried to start a new thread instead of adding on to the four page graphic intensive thread. Unfortunately, I was shut down by X.

I see. So you could start your own graphic intensive thread on the same subject?

That might be one reason why we have 25 posts per page. When viewing or adding to a thread you don't always have to start from page one. All you have to do is kind of remember where you left off last time.

well.. another problem with remote linking avatars..

even if your not on dialup... if the person is remote linking from an extremely slow site, or a site that is down.. the page is still going to load really slow, even for those of us on broadband.

How else will personal attacks be able to go through without the use of this one " "

In a sense, if you get rid of them, you get rid of a way to be yourself. Since sarcasim isn't best read from just by text alone. a smile could help carry that message that its a joke over.
