Blade,

I didn't think I said anything negative about it. I just said it didn't interst me, and I haven't read it for sometime, so I couldn't comment on it.

I just wanted to say that overall I think the site is better than ever. I wasn't saying anything good or bad about other. I was simply saying it didn't interest me, and that it's not a critical part of the site IMO.

I can't imagine how spitting off Sports and Mature wouldn't effect other. It's a pretty significant change so I'm not surprised it's had an effect.

But like all changes, this one will take a little time for some people to adjust to, and I have every confidence that OTHER will continue to flourish and prosper.

Will it be different from what it was before the split -definately. Will it be better - we hope so, but that's really up to you.

Just an observation, but I believe Blade was talking more along the lines of you beating the same line over and over again. Some people may be irritated by that...just an observation though.

P.S. I'm not one of the irritated ones, but it is pretty plausible that some people may be.

Josh,

The subject of this thread is concern over the status of the Other forum. When you post that "as long as the [other forums] are flourishing, the site is in great shape," this is not too different from saying that "if Other is in bad shape, I could care less as long as what I read is fine." And given the tone of many of your posts in the past, this is not an unreasonable interpretation of your post.

Almost every time you mention the Other forum, you're saying that you don't like it, you think it's of no value, or that you could care less if it went to hell in a handbasket. If you aren't interested in the place, fine. If you think it could be better, go create threads about subjects you want to talk about. But the constant negativity from you about Other is not helpful or constructive.

The topic is "Has this place 'lost its edge'" Not "Has other lost it's edge."

I just went by that when posting, I didn't bother reading the thread. I assumed it was talking about the site in general, not just one forum area.

If the thread starter wanted to the thread to only be about other, he/she should have put it in the title.

Good point. That's my fault. This thread was originally posted in Other, so it was implied that it was just about Other. When I moved it to Feedback, it would be easy to assume that it was about the whole site.

My comments were addressing both this thread and your specific posts. You mentioned the Other forum in the first sentence of your first post in this thread. It was pretty clear what the rest of your first post was alluding to as well. Which is pretty much what I said in my second reply to you.

Josh, what are you doing? My first post to you asked you to stop constantly posting negative things about the Other forum. You said you didn't think you posted anything negative in this reply. I pointed out how what you said was negative, and then you reply by saying that the thread isn't about Other. You are not only unsuccessfully refuting anything I've pointed out but also seem to be missing my point entirely. All I'm asking is that you stop with all the bashing of the Other forum, as your constant harping on this subject brings an antagonistic tone to any post you make concerning the Other forum.

Blade,

You're missing my point. I didn't say the thread wasn't about other at all, I said it wasn't just about other, which is why I posted to it in the first place. I simply said that I think the site is doing great (as I thought the thread was about the forums as a whole, including other -- but not limited to discussing other) because all the forums I read are active and interesting. I simply said I couldn't comment on the current state of other (post- sports and mature) because it doesn't interest me and I haven't read it. I was simply saying that the site hasn't lost its edge, but I don't know if other has because I don't read it as it doesn't interest me.

You're making a mountain out of a molehill my friend.

No, I'm not. Go back to your first post and compare what you just wrote to that. It's not, semantically, the same thing, and the contrast is exactly the problem I'm talking about.

I'm not the first person to mention this to you, and as I've said repeatedly, not only is this not about this single post, it's about the history of your posts.

My first description of your comments is still unrefuted. Your above explanation just doesn't match up with the original words you used.

I'm not saying you need to say you're sorry, you're wrong or even start saying nice things about Other. I'm not even suggesting that you should feel like any of the above is necessary. Your opinion is, of course, your opinion. But as I said in my first post, "there's no need to talk about it like it's the bastard child of the family every time you mention it. That just antagonizes the other members who enjoy the opportunity to get to know each other outside of our movie and HT likes and dislikes. Really, enough already."

If you're going to just say that I'm missing your point again, then all I can say is I've tried to give you some advice, and you certainly don't have to take it. But if your comments incite more arguments on the forum in the future, I'm going to have to look at it as being your fault if it's caused by yet another of your little "jabs" at the Other forum.

The community playground, if you will. It obviously doesn't appeal to, nor entertain everyone, but there's no need to talk about it like it's the bastard child of the family every time you mention it. That just antagonizes the other members who enjoy the opportunity to get to know each other outside of our movie and HT likes and dislikes.

Well said Blade

seriously, whilst the other has had it's moments of mayhem and madness, it has also been a great and a very real source of community support. Think back to September 11. Many others were practically living in the forum. why ? because of the very real feeling of community. You could literally feel the warmth and emotions of everyone jumping out of your computer. Others have also been supported in the Other when having personal tragedies and dilemmas.

so yeah, the other isn't just about tits and ar*se and barjokes

Josh mate, we know you don't like the other, you've got enough of what you want over the last year so please leave us alone

I have noticed myself reading a lot more of the threads, but it's been a long time since I've posted. Overall, I think the change is a good thing. I imagine that after some time, put will get used to it.

More and more I'd have to say yes. Especially since people are being suspended w/o legitimate cause.

Deftones17, if you think we've acted unfairly, feel free to email me and I'll be happy to listen to your arguments. At this point, however, I obviously disagree with your interpretation of events.

In any case, this is not the place to discuss this, so please email me or any of the other related moderators if anything further needs to be said.

This thread has pretty much run it's course, so I'm closing it.
