The Official I'm Tired of people making "Official" threads...
For something to be "official" the company producing or making the product must endorse it. Unless you have been granted permission from the studio to make a thread "official" DONT DO IT. there is nothing official about some 14 year old saying "The Official ________ DVD thread"....
just stop.
just stop.

I see nothing wrong with it. It's nice to keep all discussions in just one thread instead of having the board flooded with about 13 topics of the same nature.
Or is it just the terminology that irks you? Maybe "the One and Only _____" threads would sound better for you?

Adebar-
Are you a moderator? Doesn't look like it.
Why don't you leave the forum administration to the moderators?
Your arguments make absolutely no sense. "Official" is the word used by moderators to keep discussions in one place. Sometimes a member puts it in the title and a moderator either approves of it or changes it. It has nothing to do with the studio.

I just went through the first five pages of this forum and there are only two "official" threads (the Amelie thread and cover replacement thread). I guess there are three if this one is included. So what is the problem? If it bothers you that much, start your own forum and ban the word official. But I think there are more important things to worry about than the use of the word "official".

Dude, this thread officially sucks. If you ask me, in my official opinion, this official thread was not officially authorized by the Official Office of Official Endorsements. Therefore I must officially ask the official original poster to officially remove the word "offical" from the official title.

Search for a post about Raiders of the Lost Ark and all will be clear.

if i make a thread on dvd talk and entitle it the official uhf thread, i would need dvd talk's endorsement (which they do by either deleting the post or letting it stand)
the idea here is that it is the official thread on dvdtalk so as to deter people from posting thousands of UHF threads. it keeps everything neat and tidy.

Ummmm yeeeeaaahhhh...Your whining about people using the word 'Official' in the thread title and then you start a thread of your own using the exact same word your complaining about!? Brilliant

That's the first thing that went through my mind when I saw who started this thread too!

I AGREE
I personally think that "Official Gum Discussion" type threads just need to DIE. Who cares if there is a rule or not...I just mock the people who create those threads in private. I'll go ahead and make another if I want to discuss that in a few weeks after its dropped to the 1600 page in Other.

It's simply a device to keep too many threads on the same topic from popping up.
