Thread closed. No reason.
Parody thread? Of course. Stupid parody thread? Maybe. Offensive? I don't see it.
Are parody threads no longer allowed in Other? I didn't get the memo.
Just curious. It would have been nice to know why the thread was closed so that "we" could learn and not do it again.

it seems to be that the mods have been cracking down on parody threads much more
and I think that is a good thing
it seems as if they only let the really funny ones stay.. which I guess excludes you

True enough, but how do you explain
?OK. Parody threads unwelcome. Got it.
Geoff, umm, OK. I hate to use the "I've seen worse" defense, but...
One thread comes to mind about how long it takes for exlax to take effect when baked in brownies and given to someone who didn't know about it. That thread is still open. Seems to me a thread about picking up hookers would be a lot less socially unacceptable than one about trying to poison people.
Still

Not intending to be a jerk about this. Just curious.

Just because you can overdose on exlax doesn't equate it to poison.
Prostitution is still illegal, AFAIK.

Two strikes against the thread:
1. It is a parody thread and those quickly get out of control.
2. It (if it was serious) is asking about something illegal.
Your defense raises a good point, except:
1. Just because of a thread does not get locked, does not mean it was given our consent. Mods can not check every thread and every post, which is why we often rely on users that notify the mods. In your case, someone did.
2. Ex-lax in brownies is a really bad idea, but I am not sure it's illegal. I can see that as a gray area.
Why am I making lists for two things?
I would not take it personal. I ended up having to run outside, and this is the first I have checked back in.

First off, I'm NOT taking this personal, unlike others who have posted similar inquiries for the purpose of whining. My question was an honest one.
To continue the intellectual portion of this discussion:
I’m aware that the thread I linked was not a parody. I used that as an example of proposed illegal activity, assuming the reason stated by Geoff was that I was proposing an illegal activity. I believe that you’ll find that lacing food with a drug*, as proposed, is illegal just about any where you go.
Prostitution is NOT illegal everywhere. It's perfectly legal in certain parts of the good ole US of A.
My main point was that an explanation would have been nice, IMO. I’ll cop to minor whining on that issue.
Somebody complaining about the thread I understand. I don't believe a complaint, in and of itself, is reason for closing it. But it appears there is confusion about the legal issue. Mods are not perfect, and I don't expect them to be.
Now, if I REALLY wanted to be a jerk, I'd start threads about the legality of prostitution and/or lacing foods with drugs. But I'm sure that I give you enough reasons to "do stuff" to me withoug my going out of my way.
*Whether or not ExLax is or contains a drug is immaterial to this discussion, IMO. The intent to poison (for want of a better word) was perfectly clear.

I don't know of any place where it's legal to go pick up a hooker. But really, I think it was mainly closed because it was a parody. And how would you be a jerk for starting threads to provoke real discussion?

To avoid the potential of a nit-pick, I concede the point that street hookers are illegal in the US. (Not necessarily elsewhere.) Prostitution IS legal in certain parts of Nevada.
I used the “jerk” classification to describe my potential intent. I feel no need to discuss the legal issue of prostitution. My mind is already made up on lacing foods with drugs. By starting threads of that nature I would be trying to make a point, mostly directed at Geoff and RancyC, in a backhanded sort of way. THAT would have been my intent, and I don’t consider such things to be an honest continuation of the discussion.
I’ve seen such things in the past here, and the word “jerk” (among others) comes immediately to mind. JMO.
Again, I can be a jerk without having to go out of my way to do so.
Are you following me around again?

EX-Lax is a drug, and lacing brownies with it is definitely considered poisoning. It does not matter what the drug makes you do, the act of lacing anything with it is illegal. That thread should be closed as well.
If you like to think it's harmles or a gray area, call your local law enforcement agency.

Now the thread vectors off into a discussion about the illegality or not, of placing exlax in a brownie. That is not the issue, though it is an interesting discussion. As I said, it was closed because we are closing parody threads. It also happened to be on a subject that concerns an illegal activity in most of the country. The issue of the legality of prostitution in various regions, is also interesting, but not really the point. And I tried to explain we only close things we see. A thread not being closed does not equate to our approval of the thread.

I agree there is some confusion about the legal issue in that it keeps getting referred to and it really not the issue. Now, if I REALLY wanted to be a jerk, I'd start threads about the legality of prostitution and/or lacing foods with drugs. Randy, I think you've misread or misunderstood much, but I don't think this is the place for further discussion. Let me know if you wanna talk.
