Is it just me or is the OF getting REALLY female friendly?

Cool Kitten,

And of course i'm speaking only for myself here. I also think that all of this will die down in a very short time.

Personally I do not find people having fun offensive.
I do think that many members believe it is acceptable to flirt with new female members or any female member in reality. I also do think that women(and jules
) are far more likely to have sexual words used in threads in the Other forum.
Is this a problem?
I think it can be. I would hope that women would let mods know or just let posters know if they are crossing the line. Unlike in real life where we can get nonverbal clues which help us modify our speech patterns. online we can not so unless we are told we have no idea we are offending without being told. sometimes a member sees others joking with a member and think this is acceptable behavior. let them know if it wrong.
Hey look at it like help a member and increase your post count

I try to hit on everybody. You guys are soo close minded just hitting on women. Don't you know that women only make about half the world's population?
P.S.-Seriously, I only joke at those who I think are cool with joking. Both sexes included.

I post in the other forum occassionally and have never felt the need to announce that I am female. The whole "internet love" thing that people do has always kinda weirded me out.
For those guys that get a kick out of coming on to girls, need I remind you of Anandtechs NOWHERMOM (SP?)...
In any case, for awhile it seemed every other thread was "who would you rather do (fill in the blank) or (fill in the blank)"...those type of threads get on my nerves a lot more than girls trying deperately to get the attention of guys.
For those guys that get a kick out of coming on to girls, need I remind you of Anandtechs NOWHERMOM (SP?)...

1- they have no idea if they really are even women.
2- they do not even know if they would be physically or emotionally attracted to this person.
3-the distances are a major problem.
I am curious what nowheremom reminder??? what happened at Anandtech that I missed.

I say... It's a just a message board. And the otter farm is just a "joke" area. Most of the time, we just have fun. Sometimes there are serious conversations about serious subjects (abortion, politics, school shootings), but most of the stuff here is to be taken light heartedly.

</small>It often looks that way: I guess it depends who is posting and what mood they are in. Personally, although I like a joke from time to time, I'm not overly concerned when I see that the funsters have left the forum.

Well, a few months ago it was revealed that Dennilfloss was NOWHEREMOM all along. He made it all up and everyone flipped out and I think he even got banned. I haven't really been back since this happened so I don't know what all the fallout might have been but it was pretty creepy.

Well, I hardly ever visit Anandtech, but apparently there was a member there by the name of NOWHEREMOM (I might be wrong about the name, it was something-mom) who was supposed to be from Sweden or something and "she" was a regular poster. Lots of members felt like they really got to know "her" and liked "her" a lot. One member in particular, Dennilfloss, developed a "close" relationship with "her" and they made this big deal about flirting all the time. He even went to see "her" in Sweden. Then one day Dennilfloss posts that NOWHEREMOM and "her" daughter died in an awful car accident. Everyone mourned "her" and gave Dennilfloss tons of sympathy. Anandtech even put up a memorial page in dedication to "her".

I've been in the other forum for a long time now. I agree with the ebb and flow. but I also agree with the fact that sometimes, if we as women are feeling uncomfortable with something that's going on, we need to let the mods or Geoff know. I've done it many times. Yes, it comes and goes, but I don't think that we should use that as an excuse to leave it alone.
Granted, I havent been around that much in the past few months, but in a few weeks here I'll be online quite a bit more, and I've been able to stop by every once in a while lately. I also know that about 90% of the other forum guys are horny and havent gotten laid in 6 months, and so of course, if you mention that you are female, they will automatically act like a begging dog
Sometimes it's fun to joke around, and yes, some women like the attention... but all of us are different.
I don't really have a problem with what's going on, although it did kind of bother me how everyone assumed since I have a kegerator in my living room, they could convince me to take drunk naked pictures of myself and post them in the forum. Yeah... file that under "never"
I appreciate Bushdog's "official Warning" comment in that thread... it just keeps them in check. See http://www.dvdtalk.com/forum/showthr...hreadid=134250
But it's a helluva lot better than those "Women I wanna knock up" threads.

Glad to help, Betho. And I think you'll find most of our female posters say that I do my best to keep things in control. That said, it is sometimes borderline what is going to be offensive or not, so if you see something, let us know and we'll deal with it.
After all, I'm just a dumb boy
and am going to be less sensitive to some of this stuff that you (or other girls) might be.

The Other Forum has slowly evolved into a more female friendly forum. It is in our--the guys'--nature to keep pushing the boundaries. And because of our limited number of brain cells, we often think that if one thing's okay with one woman, it'll be okay for all women.
As matta and MasterofDVD pointed out, when you got 100 horny guys and 3 women on the forum ... sometimes
things happen.

I think in general its better than its been but the women would need to speak to this. Bushy has the right angle if something is upsetting email a mod or just post that it went to far.

This is funny.
When I say the welcome that goofee girl got I instantly thought of this thread and suddenly...
BAM
Here it is.
Things are as nuts if the Farm as they used to be. And it was kinda nice to see the guys line up to say hi.
