Why are the pages taking so long to load?

With the old software the pages would come right up but with the new software it takes a couple of minutes for each page to load!!! Whats up with that? Is anyone else having this problem?

I am having the same problem. It started around the begining of this month. Its really painful to wait and
wait for the pages. So much so that I only click on the most inviting posts these days. Hope somebody
is doing something about it or has a solution for it.

I'm using Netscape 4.7/ Windows '95.

Here is a traceroute :

On the other hand, pages seem to be loading even faster than normal for me.

Yeah, it sounds like your problems are outside of DVDTalk. I have no probs from home or the office.

Just so you know, with Netscape (on the Mac anyway, I'm not sure if it's the same on the PC), page load times start increasing rapidly the more nested tables you have. It takes a long time for Netscape to render the complex table structure.

With the new software version, thread pages now cause my Mac to pause for a few seconds while it renders the tables, whereas before the pages would start loading near immediately.

It's the same. With the new forum software and Netscape, the CPU is getting a real workout!

I should note that it's Netscape 4.x's table rendering code which sucks. The Gecko rendering engine in Netscape 6 is supposedly a lot faster.

I don't understand this "traceroute" you speak of - I'm just a caveman. But I do know that the pages have been taking a lot lnger to load on my MS Internet Explorer browser in Windows NT.
