The youngest member I've came across was 15, and at that age he's probably already searching for porn. In otherwords, that argument is futile, because children aren't members of the site, and teenagers are already curious and looking at porn and having sex so who cares. Besides it's a moot point because porn is not allowed here. Even nude pics most be posted as links. I see no problem with teenagers looking at picks of naked girls and I
at anyone who does.
I also
at people not intelligent enough to not click on threads labeled [MATURE][Pics] It's a simple concept. Unfortunatley the intelligence level of these forums has dropped dramatically in the past year or so. As for the pics being copyrighted, why complain, that's the administrations problem, not yours.

I have no problem with those who like porn, but like the moderators, I think there is a fine line that needs to be drawn as to what should be allowed and what crosses that line.
In the end, my biggest gripe of all out of the whole porn and other inappropriate posts situation, is that DVD talk has lost a bit of respect and we no longer have the industry releated events we used to have here. I am sure some of the oldt imers remember when there used to be chats with studio types (American Zeotrope) and directors (Renny Harlin) here on a somewhat regular basis. If you have not noticed, there has been nothing of the sort here for quite some time (over a year). Is it all related to the mature posts in the other forum? I would have to definately say No, but overall I think it does factor into the current situation here in some degree.

MasterJ- I didn't quote the rest of your post because I wasn't specifically addressing your argument. I've heard that "it makes porn/nudity more accessable to children" from several members in the past and was just addressing it.
I agree that DVD Talk has lost respectability, but not over these threads. The down fall was having an Other forum, and other off topic forums in the first place. We would still be having more chats and other "respectable" events within the industry if this was strictly a DVD/Movie/Home Theater website. As it is it's just a fan community and isn't "professional" enough to attract industry insiders.

well, if you guys thought I was gonna go to copyright holders or somehting, then that was a mistake, and I could have worded it more clearly. I don't even know who any theorhetical copyright holders are. I was just generalizing. Thinking about how the RIAA has taken down MP3.com.

Look, just stay away from the Other forum and you won't come across any nude photo links.
JoeC...unlike in reality, you can choose what communities in which you participate online...

"we only allow tasteful nudity"
well to me, pics of women spreading their ***** lips open with their fingers isn't tasteful nudity. Michelangelo is tastful nudity, some 18 year old ho from Hustler isnt. [/B][/QUOTE]
To see the pics you are talking about you would have to open a (mature) thread with a title clearly stating pics of women, see a half naked woman with a link that advertises more explicit pictures and then clicking on that link. If these things offend your sensibilities do not view them - unless of course you are just checking for copyrite infringements.
