Wishing you a fast recovery as well!

I actually have seen the Jack Frost Costume in person. It's stored in a salt mine in Kansas. The mine sells the no longer used parts to various places (medical record storage, Hollywood archives, a local museum). They have a mini costume museum down in the mine for people to see along with the mine tour. There was also Mr. Freeze costume, a James Dean jacket and a bunch of other clothing items. It was a cool experience if anyone is near Hutchinson, KS.

I think Sugarplummed might be my favorite Hallmark movie this year. It's actually pretty smart and self aware in its story with all of the tropes in Hallmark movies.

I agree! I've seen about half the new ones so far this year, and its easily my favorite.

I already rewatched Sugarplummed again and I hope more movies are being considered with the Sugarplum character.

I really wish The Polar Express maintained the quality of the first hour before they got to the North Pole.

Its what happens when you take a 32 page kids book and turn it into a full length movie.

Caught a free matinee showing of Y2K yesterday.

I kinda feel bad for putting it on my list, but with the whole plot centering around NYE...

Re: 20th Annual HOLIDAY Challenge DISCUSSION Thread

Recovery's going well. No problems during surgery. Today's the first day I've felt good enough sitting up to get on forums again (even then, taking a shower this morning wiped me out for a few hours). And I totally failed to move my Christmas Movie tote to the den so will have to walk from one end of the house to the other for a week or so to get movies out of it (and hope it's on top of a stack/high enough to get into easily). Sigh... Looks like one of the granddaughters will be doing some moving for me.

So... I've been watching what's easily available to me in the den until one of them can come over (the 17yo's been out of town the past few days visiting one of the colleges on her list and the other's not old enough to drive)... So far it's been S3 of Star Trek:TOS, S1 & S2 of Northern Exposure, and some early Jackie Chan movies... Not exactly holiday fare but at least stuff I really enjoy.

Re: 20th Annual HOLIDAY Challenge DISCUSSION Thread

Good to see you up Bob! Speaking of Star Trek, I found a fan production called Starship Armitage: Ghosts of Christmas Past to fit the month. Was a little lost, it’s like the 5th in a series, but it had good production values and I checked my monthly box.

Re: 20th Annual HOLIDAY Challenge DISCUSSION Thread

My Holiday movie tote was sitting on top of a stack, easily accessible so I got a few things out. I started with White Christmas, a partial favorite (I prefer Holiday Inn mostly because I'm not much of a Danny Kaye fan) then remembered I have a proper WS version of Mixed Nuts on Amazon so streamed that one. It, too, is a favorite.

Re: 20th Annual HOLIDAY Challenge DISCUSSION Thread

Tonight is Charlie Brown night, we watched the classic original and one of the six or so later Christmas specials.

Also, have Best Picture Winner on my checklist, so watch the old Bing Crosby film Going My Way every year, luckily Jen loves it too, I don’t remember the sequel, The Bells of St Mary’s, but see that I rated it 2/10 on IMDb. I very rarely rate anything that low, so now I’m curious.

Re: 20th Annual HOLIDAY Challenge DISCUSSION Thread

After most of the week relying on streaming because my local channels have had no signal more often than not, I decided to check when I woke up this morning and saw my channels back on. The very first Popeye cartoon this morning happened to be a Christmas episode. 'Seasin's Greetinks' was the episode in which Popeye was teaching Olive Oyl how to ice skate.

Re: 20th Annual HOLIDAY Challenge DISCUSSION Thread

Accidental Christmas episode viewing last night... I've been watching my Northern Exposure set this week (the newer release with the restored music)... S3E10 is "Seoul Mates" which is a Christmas based episode yet doesn't have any of the usual cliche' Christmas plots so often seen (the reason I often avoid Christmas episodes of series). It's done how it should be done - Christmas Season is in full swing but that's not the reason for the episode, just the setting, with the main plot having nothing to do with Christmas. The only plot line directly tied to the season is Dr. Fleishman's personal struggle to put a Christmas Tree in his home since he's Jewish so really shouldn't do such a thing.

I hit 70 this morning watching all the Two and Half Men Christmas episodes. Today I hope to watch at least one Hallmark movie and then some of my Christmas horror selections.

I've been mostly watching the new Hallmark movies, but I loved, loved Red One (2024) and Carry-On (2024). Both got 5 stars from me, and they're ones I'll watch again. Rewatched Die Hard last night again too. It never gets old.

Holy Christmas Miracles, this is one of the few Christmas movies I didn't have. Thank you so much!

I'm at 81 this morning and watching Jingle All the Way. I can enjoy the performances from Arnold and Phil Hartman but as a former retail worker I hate this movie. I'll probably make it to 100 and be done for the year.

If anyone is looking for something new to add to your list go to the Paramount Plus YouTube channel and they have a ton of Christmas episodes from classic TV shows free to watch.

Caught Candy Cane Lane again this year, it’s on Prime. I’m not a big Eddie Murphy fan, but enjoyed it tonight.

Red Letter Media just uploaded their Annual Christmas Episode on YouTube. I've included their episodes on my lists before and this year will be no different.

Re: 20th Annual HOLIDAY Challenge DISCUSSION Thread

It seems I took on too much this year to participate much in this challenge. Truthfully, I feel like once a year is too much for some of these movies, so I'm ok with not doing as much. I started out determined to enjoy the holidays this year, but just couldn't focus on Christmas stuff, so moved on to other things. I plan on doing a few more before the end of the year as I'm off all this week, but opted to finish stuff like The Penguin on Max before watching anything holiday-related.. Right now, I'm watching Home Alone, which I usually do a double feature with Die Hard on Christmas Eve, but was unable to watch last year due to family stuff. This is possibly my favorite holiday film. I hope everyone has enjoyed the challenge so far. We have a little bit over a week to go....

Re: 20th Annual HOLIDAY Challenge DISCUSSION Thread

I haven't been watching as much as usual this year. I have been doing more reading lately instead. I've seen a few Hallmark-y type movies and a few baking shows and that's about it. I did record the Sugarplummed movie but haven't watched it. I'll try to get to it this week while I'm on vacation. I always have a bit of a holiday backlog that I'll try to get a few more watched before the end of the challenge as well. We'll see though.

After being wiped out with a stomach bug for most of Xmas, I'm back at it today with Wolfs. Didn't even know it took place during the holidays.
