Re: 20th Annual HOLIDAY Challenge DISCUSSION Thread

There is a YouTube channel for Garfield called Garfield and Friends. Yesterday I watched Garfiield's Thanksgiving and there is also A Garfield Christmas on there. Additionally, a couple weeks ago I was curious about The Mouse On the Mayflower . While it is not available on YouTube at all, not sure why, I was able to find it on Dailymotion.

If you're looking for a Thanksgiving movie and like Hallmark movies I thought Love at the Thanksgiving Day Parade was super cute, instantly went on my small list of Hallmark faves. Plus the outfits the main characters wears are wild.

Re: 20th Annual HOLIDAY Challenge DISCUSSION Thread

Yesterday while watching the noon news, I saw a story where a Christmas comedy movie starring Jack Black dropped on Paramount+. Dear Santa , starring Jack Black as Satan where a boy accidentally sends his Christmas list to Satan instead of Santa.

Re: 20th Annual HOLIDAY Challenge DISCUSSION Thread

Starting today, there are tons of new Hallmark premieres for Thanksgiving weekend. I'm looking forward to it!
I thought the recent Hallmarks' Three Wiser Men and a Boy, Christmas on Call, and Jingle Bell Run were all worth a watch. I also liked Christmas in the Spotlight on Lifetime, though that one is definitely a romance (a take off on Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce).

Happy almost Thanksgiving all!

Watched my 2nd favorite Thanksgiving film tonight, Pieces of April. It’s free on Tubi. Great cast, lots of laughs and pretty moving.

Happy Thanksgiving y'all!! I'm planning to watch "Planes, Trains, and Automobiles", Thanksgiving, and then some Thanksgiving episodes of Roseanne and New Girl off of Peacock.

Anyone else have some good recommendations for Thanksgiving horror flicks I might find on Tubi?

Re: 20th Annual HOLIDAY Challenge DISCUSSION Thread

I've already watched them both. I've got Thanksgiving on right now and after tonight I'll move on to all the Christmas movies and TV shows.

Re: 20th Annual HOLIDAY Challenge DISCUSSION Thread

Managed to escape the multiple Friends Thanksgiving episodes today, instead we each picked a movie. Ended up watching National Lampoons' Christmas Vacation, White Christmas and The Waltons Homecoming: A Christmas Story. All rewatches, but mostly things I do usually watch fairly regularly during the holiday season.

Stay safe. I've been snowed in since yesterday with four feet of snow. Glad I wasn't planning to hit brick and mortar black Friday sales.

Re: 20th Annual HOLIDAY Challenge DISCUSSION Thread

It might be just a few inches at most but enough to stay home through the morning if I don't have to go anywhere. Why not have Christmas movies on TV while I clean a little. Now I've moved on to the Nine Kittens of Christmas. Damn four feet of Snow?

Re: 20th Annual HOLIDAY Challenge DISCUSSION Thread

We've been spared the snow this year so far, just a few flurries which for WI, that's unusual. Since I had to drive quite a distance, I'm ok with that, though. It has been in the single digits all day today and in the 20s plus a lot of wind the last 2-3. Really goes right through you.

Re: 20th Annual HOLIDAY Challenge DISCUSSION Thread

While just watching The Smurfs Christmas Special on YouTube I got to thinking about something. It seems that a good portion of 80s cartoon Christmas specials always ended up with the series main villain coming through and helping to save Christmas in the end. He Man had Skeletor and I remember Bravestarr had a Christmas Carol story where Tex Hex saved the day in the end.

Has anyone ever thought of LA Confidential for their lists? Not a Christmas movie but a portion of the movie takes place in the season.

I’ve always been sort of obsessed with A Christmas Carol, watching several of the countless adaptations most years, and buying many on physical media. Discovered an odd one today on Vudu’s free section, a 2020 partly animated sorta ballet ones with some name narration talent.

I love A Christmas Carol too. We just watched FX'S A Christmas Carol. It's free on Amazon Prime. It was a 3 episode BBC miniseries with Guy Pierce and Tom Hardy, among others. It's very dark and adds new material to Dickens' story, but it's worth a watch. Beautiful cinematography.

I didn't count anything yesterday but watch some old youtube videos of Christmas Commercials from 70s-90s. Really fun stuff and YouTube is a treasure trove for obscure Christmas TV specials.

Re: 20th Annual HOLIDAY Challenge DISCUSSION Thread

So far I've watched a single Christmas/Holiday film: Jack Frost (1998) - a first time viewing. It was OK but nothing all that special or different and quite predictable. I may do a marathon later this month due to an upcoming surgery which will put me at home for a couple of weeks for recovery.

Thanks! Mine is kidney - removing a "small" mass from one (outpatient - robotic). It's scheduled for Monday, the 9th. I'll be off work 2 weeks for recovery and then my department will be out 2 weeks for the Christmas holiday break... so that's a full month off work. I'll be pretty worthless when I return! (and "sick time" isn't an issue - I currently have 100 sick days built up... you read that right)

**EDIT**
And... spent the last hour or so with Dr. office, insurance and hospital admissions as the Dr.'s office called and said "The hospital called and said your Insurance was denied as out-of-network so we'll have to look at other options which will push the surgery back until January." I then do a flurry of calls to the insurance company, dr. office, hospital scheduling, and back to the dr. after verifying with both the insurance company *and* hospital that they are, indeed, in network for my insurance. It's now in the dr.'s hands to likely have to do a new pre-cert and verification which will push it all back to sometime in January. Oh well... could be worse...
**EDIT 2**
Forget all that... the Dr.'s office and Hospital managed to get everything worked out with insurance and the surgery's back on for Monday afternoon...

Who knew even Baywatch had a Christmas episode. "Silent Night, Baywatch Night" Parts 1 & 2 from season 5.😂
