Nope... too old. But other than that the description pretty much fits.

Re: 10th Annual Sci-Fi/Fantasy Challenge Discussion Thread
I've been moving over that last four days so I've not had much time to watch stuff. However, I took a nice break this evening to watch a couple episodes of The Legend of Korra and an episode of One Piece, two animated series that I stopped watching after getting distracted by shiny things. I've seen the first two seasons of Korra and hope to watch the series in its entirely after getting the box set super cheap. When I first watched it, I wasn't sound on the idea (Avatar: The Last Airbender is one of my favorite shows), but it quickly won me over, especially since it features a post-Industrial Revolution society that contrasts nicely with the more agrarian society of Avatar.
Hehe! We'll have to figure out the terminology and label you! I'm sure someone on BuzzFeed or HuffPost has written a whole article about it!

I've not yet read the books, and feel that's a good thing, so I didn't have any preconceived notions about how things "should be" or foreknowledge of events. Of course with S7 we're all on an even keel as they've now gotten into the parts of the story that haven't yet been published.

When it comes right down to a label, I'm more of an enigma wrapped in a conundrum...

Nope... not by a long shot. I know people who've never seen the original Planet of the Apes and don't know how it ends, although I find that one a bit hard to believe considering it's been spoiled everywhere for decades...

I've only seen a couple episodes of Season 1. I enjoy it, but a lot of times I have buffering issues.

Well, you might be the last man on earth to not see it, but there are plenty of women out there that haven't!
Have you tried to go down to SD? That helped when I've gone through that with my Roku. But the full reboot seemed to have fixed that problem for me for the most part. At least it's a lot better than it used to be.

Yeah, I've only seen one episode of GoT. Loved it and always plan to binge it come each July. Maybe I'll forget that spoiler by next year.

I'm fully caught up with GOT. For the past 3 seasons I've started with S1E1 and binge watched the entire thing starting a couple of weeks before the new season starts... except for this year. Because of all the episodes, this year I meant to watch an episode a day up to the new season starting. That plan kind of fell through and I only had time to get in S6. I hope to do better before S8 starts.

Anyone remember the underwater sci-fi binge Hollywood gave us in 1989? Within a few months of each other, we got Leviathan, DeepStar Six, and The Abyss. I'm thinking about subjecting myself to all three before the month is out.
Leviathan would be a great B horror film if Alien and The Thing didn't exist. It pretty much rips off it's best parts from them. Still, it has a solid cast and score, and is somewhat fun.
I'm not positive I ever saw or own DeepStar Six, but I imagine I'll be able to at least youtube it. Seems like it was received the worst of the three.
Looking forward to re-visiting The Abyss, it's been awhile.

I don't remember that craze, but the first thing I thought of was the sci-fi TV craze that tried to ride on the coattails of Lost. One of those was an underwater series I always thought I'd catch up on.
Finished my double feature of Golden Voyage of Sinbad and Sinbad and the Eye of the Tiger. As a youth, I enjoyed the glorious big-screen moment of Jane Seymour sunning herself by the river.
Randomly watching a super-low-budget series called Continuum (not to be confused with the cable series of the same name with Rachel Nichols--which I also intend to catch up on one of these Julys). Apparently it's a web series that has been woven together into two 40-minute episodes. It lives up to its budget, but now I need to finish it to find out what happens.

Spoiler:
Believe it or not, I think I watched The Beastmaster for the first time tonight. Not sure how I missed it since I was the perfect age to love this sort of thing when it came out. Not to mention how heavily it was the rotation on cable tv over the next decade or so. What an odd follow-up to Phantasm for writer/director Don Coscarelli.

I was thinking about GI Joe this morning, figuring I would have to wait until next week to watch it,. I just checked IMDb though, as I thought I could at least watch the original mini series this week. It turns out the series has a sci-fi label though.

Waiting for my limited edition Blu-ray set of the three Sinbad movies to arrive from Amazon UK. Probably won't be in time for this month now, but I'm still excited for it. It'll go well with my other Harryhausen set! Of course I have them on DVD, but that's a double-dip I can live with!

Re: 10th Annual Sci-Fi/Fantasy Challenge Discussion Thread
I've been watching an old Kurt Russell trilogy: The Computer Wore Tennis Shoes (1969), Now You See Him, Now You Don't (1972), and The Strongest Man in the World (1975) over the past few days. Somehow I'd never seen the last two and never knew they were a trilogy until a couple of days ago. I purchased a Kurt Russell Disney film set which has all three, as well as The Horse in the Gray Flannel Suit (1968), which I also don't think I've ever seen. It was a fun trilogy and one I'll revisit, hopefully with the grandkids as I think they'll enjoy them. They're certainly better than the pablum Disney puts out these days!
I then broke out my new BR upgrade of Predator. I've read complaints this one is DNR'd to death and looks horrible. I thought it looked fine on my setup. It may have too much DNR but I'm sure I saw grain (which is typically absent for stuff that's had heavy handed DNR applied). It's still a fun film. I picked up a LD on all 5 Predator films (which includes the less-than-stellar Alien vs. movies) for just a couple $$ more than the trilogy sells so I'm happy. Now I have to decide if I'm going to try and watch them all before Monday...
