Which cut did you go with? Theatrical, European or Extended?

Theatrical was always my preferred cut. The pacing seems a little off on the others, although the Euro cut has more Goblin.

That's definitely a product of the '80s made in the '90s.

Delivery is the way to go. I took the cheapskate route, skimped on the $75 delivery fee, and it came back to bite me in the ass. Or back rather.

Hope you enjoy it.

Not in the sequel. The sequel was a rushed production that is kind of an example of how IP works in Hollywood. I'm actually thinking of giving it a shot this year and see if it is truly terrible or possibly passable.

I watched Young Frankenstein for the first time today. I think I'll be adding it to my watch list every year. I thought it was funny and very enjoyable. I love watching the great Gene Wilder.

Would movies about cults count for tomorrow's theme? I noticed the linked list was rather small and if I can get it to play in my PS4, I have a movie about a cult and human sacrifice I was thinking of watching for the theme.

I bought it when it was on sale and it is still unopened. I will be watching it this challenge. Question, what is IP in the way you used it?

Watched The Woman in Black again. I hated this movie for a while but now that I actually am into ghost stories and a slower pace, this isn't too bad of a flick. Harry Potter is actually pretty passable and there were some ok scare scenes.

Intellectual Property?

Probably used as in 'use it or lose it' or 'exploit something we own'. Where film companies make any old rubbish because they can (or 'need to', if rights could expire) rather than put the effort into doing it right or sensibly or with any notion of what an audoence wants...

It was good to read all of the positive feedback earlier for Extraordinary Tales. I felt like watching a lot of E.A.P material for this year's marathon and that sounds like it should be a pleasing start.

Yeah, there's some religious cult films on the list.

Because I just watched it - Bloody Moon (1981). It's Jess Franco, so your mileage may vary.

Part 1 was awful. No gore or nudity. Like a micro-budget movie made with a couple friends and a home video camera.

Part 2 was actually pretty good. Some brutal kills and nice nudity. I wish I could find a widescreen copy (the US DVD is Fullscreen).

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 12th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/

After watching Cooties and Scouts Guide, I finished Zombie Day off with Night Of The Living Deb (2015) and Train to Busan (2016).

Night of the Living Deb was ok. A mix of romantic comedy and zombies. It was even less serious that Shaun of the Dead. The zombie effects were decent. The comedy was hit and miss. It's worth watching once, but I doubt I'll watch it again.

Train to Busan was my favorite flick of the day. And it might end up being one of my favorite movies of the whole challenge. They did an excellent job of making you care about the characters (even the minor ones). The zombies were interesting, although kinda similar to WWZ. At 2 hours, I felt that maybe it was a little long. But that's my only complaint.

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 12th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/

The movie I was going to start Religious/Cult day with (The Badger Game) turned out to not technically be a horror film so I checked out Satan's Blood (aka Don't Panic) - that is one random movie.

[Rec] is a minor classic.

Living Dead At Manchester Morgue gets eerie stoic zombies right (best kind).

Contracted 1 is interesting - less plot but moody; Contracted 2 shoehorns more plot in - but the sequel is really boring for a zombie movie with a forced narrative.

Quite enjoyed Mulberry Street's zombies - the atmosphere and sense of dread is mostly conveyed through cutaways and (eating) sound effects. Which is a nice change, and pretty well done. Plus, it's not often you see someone bind their hands nd head out to punch the living dead..!

A lot of shakey-cam elsewhere, however.

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 12th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/

For today's theme movie, I chose Land Of The Minotaur, from Mill Creek's Cult Terror Cinema set. It was a decent film that starred Donald Pleasence as a Catholic Priest, and Peter Cushing as a cult leader.

I actually consider that a prequel to Prince of Darkness. Donald may not play the same character, but he's a man of the cloth fighting the devil in both movies. Works for me!
