Re: Last DVD you watched?
The Remains of the Day. I netflixed this on a whim after watching the trailer for the first time in forever on some random DVD. I remember hating this movie when I first saw it - I must have been around twelve. I thought it was really boring and I had no concept at all that it was a love story. I loved it this time around. Maybe my favorite performance of Hopkins. I felt such sadness for him. I guess the moral of the story is not to always trust your twelve year old self.

A Goofy Movie - it's refreshing to see an animated film not about saving the world.

Re: Last DVD you watched?
George A. Romero's MARTIN (the Lionsgate re-release). Liked it a lot, a mixture of "Dexter" (the teenage years) and "True Blood" but with a 70's low-budget grindhouse feel permeating the psycho-sexual violence. Watched it again the next day with the commentary track; Romero and co. have some of the best 'family' group commentaries on horror DVD releases. :)

Arguably the most beautifully dark and complex revenge film ever put out by Korea. |

Re: Last DVD you watched?
R-Point
Not perfect, but succeeds at creating an eerie supernatural build up with some decent scares and creepy settings. Good stuff. Black Devil Doll Absolute travesty of a film. Dialogue was funny for about 5 minutes and became old and repetitive quick. And just think ...with one of the main actresses named "Precious Cox" ...I'm sure you can imagine the range of the acting (not that that's the point or anything) which is comprised of the animated ventriloquist dummy and porn stars ...oh yeah, and "White-T" (who actually is the target of one of the best lines in the film - unfortunately all of the other best lines were missing). |
