The General's Daughter (1999) - This was better than I thought it was going to be, but still no masterpiece.
John Grisham's The Rainmaker (1997) - Decent movie, I would most likely re-watch this.

Thanks for pointing that out, Trevor. For some reason, it occasionally posts twice. I usually catch it and delete the duplicated post before anyone has time to point it out but I must have missed this one. Oh well, it's deleted now.

March of the Penguins. Warner did a great job adding bonus material, given that this is a documentary that pretty much speaks for itself.

Gamer
Surrogates

Took a break from watching quality films to see a couple mindless action flicks. Both were free rentals, and while they were slightly better than I expected, I doubt I'll ever watch them again.

Monsters, Inc. and The Incredibles made for a nice Pixar double-feature last night.

Re: Last DVD you watched?

Ponyo - (got the Blu-ray but don't have a player handy at the moment). First time seeing it and it's already one of my all time favorite films. I even liked the remixed end-credit song (until I learned it was remixed, at least).

House on Haunted Hill (1959) - Fantastic cheese-fest. Don't know why people hate this film.

Naussica (again) - even better than I remember it being.

I can't speak for others, but I rather liked it. I certainly preferred the plot not going supernatural as its 1990s remake did. Are the effects dated? Sure, but I grew up on Scooby-Doo, so I just went with it.

Anyway, last night we watched Shrek and Dumbo. I hadn't seen the latter in ages, and I still found myself just emotionally sacked by the shoddy treatment Dumbo and his mother receive through most of the movie. Also, the drunk hallucination scene was far more jacked up than I remembered.
