It wasn't that bad. It was actually pretty fun.

Also compared to the complete boring/shit-fest that was Sick Nurses (which I watched for the October Challenge), this film was a masterpiece

I didn't think Sick Nurses was all that awful. It wasn't great or anything but I liked it's visual style. I'm still questioning why somebody would take a shower with their clothes on, though.

I agree about the visual style, but it was so boring.

The filmmakers lose 60 points for getting Ase Wang to shower with her clothes on.

Re: Last DVD you watched?

MST3K #105: The Corpse Vanishes (1989/1942) on Shout! Factory DVD for the first time. The more KTMA and Season 1 "MST3K" episodes I watch the more I like 'em. They're not as consistently funny as scripted "MST3K" but in his own weird way J. Elvis Weinstein's low-key improvisational Tom Servo, along with Joel Hodgson and Trace Beaulieu (Crow) still learning the on-camera art of riffing, focuses the viewers' attention more on the bad movie's shortcomings than on the jokes being made at the movie's expense. In the case of "The Corpse Vanishes" the wildly uneven and borderline-comedic pace (particularly the first half) combined with poverty row patchwork of plot ideas held together by the creepy magnetism of Bela Lugosi's performance stand out. In latter "MST3K" seasons the better jokes would have overwhelmed the movie's minimal accomplishments (like becoming a "Frankenstein"-ish mad doctor flick in the second half) so "The Corpse Vanishes" is more easy to remember than the jokes being made at its expense.

MST3K #501: Warrior of the Lost World (1993/1983) on Shout! Factory DVD for the first time. Robert Ginty (forever etched in my mind now as 'the Paper Chase guy' ) squints and underacts like Chuck Norris on quaaludes even during action scenes where our 'hero' supposedly kicks ass. Between the attitude-filled 'speed cycle' that Ginty rides ('Bad Mothers'), the non-sensical plot and desperate-for-attention camera muggings of Persis Khambatta ("Star Trek: The Motion Picture"), Fred Williamson and Donald Pleasence the movie sets itself up for pitch-perfect ridicule by Joel and the Bots (who at this point of the "MST3K" run are hitting their peak). Then MEGA WEAPON shows up and a star (and MiSTie catchphrase) is born.

Hotel Splendide (2000) on R2 DVD for the first time. "The Road to Wellville" meets "Delicatessen" (Alan Parker by way of Jeunet/Caro? ) in this bizarre British comedy about an isolated island resort run by surviving members of a family that preserves a dead matriach's antiquated healthy lifestyle to the business' financial detriment. Between the quirky guests at the resort (each with their own laundry list of oddities), the willingness of writer/director Terence Gross to go for broke in pursuit of his vision and the presence of stars-in-the-making like Toni Collette and Daniel Craig (with excellent support from game British thesps like Hugh O'Connor and Stephen Tompkinson) "Hotel Splendide" qualifies as a find for adventurous cinephiles.
