Finishing Critters right now. That house rebuilding at the end holds up as a great effect.

Nice. Thinking of doing the old Universal horror classic monsters as I got the blu-ray pack and hasn't been opened yet.

I also watched Cooties, another gory comedy filled with recognizable actors from 30 Rock, SNL, Lost, The Newsroom, and The Office, plus Elijah Wood in the lead. It was even more hilarious than Bloodsucking Bastards and much bloodier. The set up is that tainted chicken tenders turn children into flesh-eating monsters who start eating any adults they can find. Gobear sez check it out.
I downloaded Cooties a few days ago, and I'm looking forward to watching it. I've seen it on a few top 10 lists over the past month and expect a good time. If it has a Gobear seal of approval, then I'm there.

The Critters were giant assholes for blowing up the house, they did it for no other reason but to be dicks.

Personally I don't see the Jurassic Park series as horror; but not being a big 'monster movie' buff I sometimes struggle with the logic of including kaiju stuff altogether. I suppose Jurassic World could count as a giant killer creature feature but it seems more science fiction than horror oriented.

I liked both Absentia and Blood Punch. Interested in hearing what you think.

Watching Bad Milo! for todays theme.

Also Jurassic World would count, Terra Nova was countable a few years back.

What is up with Netflix anymore? They got rid of almost all of their older movies that were streaming. Only two 70's movies (Omen and Omen 2) and virtually nothing before that. I love the 60's and 70's stuff and it is almost all gone. It's a good thing that I have Roku or I would really be angry!

Well, that was an odd transition going from cheese (Spookies) to arthouse (Valerie and Her Week of Wonders) to Mexican (The Witch's Mirror) to squeezing in some exploitation (Night of the Demon) this morning before work. I definitely won't be able to keep up that pace throughout and on that little amount of sleep.

I'll echo the other comments and say Valerie was phenomenal, and definitely fits in the horror category. I was also surprised how just how much I enjoyed The Witch's Mirror ...especially after watching another Chano Urueta flick "Brainiac" last year and being slightly disappointed after it failed to live up to it's "most bizarre horror film ever" claim. Still a couple more CasaNegra titles to go yet. What a bummer they're no longer around.

While I agree about JP, creature feature themselves are a genre of horror. It was even officially stated a few years ago, kaiju counts.

Just finished Friday the 13th, Part 2. Have never seen any of these start to finish, besides 1, once or twice. Really enjoyed 2. Like seeing Jason for the first time.

I searched Hulu for "tiny" "horror" and it said Toad Road... but not frog-toads, some kind of drug thing.

An hour of teenagers taking drugs and then 30 minutes of mild suspense and mumbling about Hell. Disappointing, particularly as a midpoint timeslip almost made it seem about-to-be-interesting.

I'm like a F13 black sheep but my absolute favs are 1-3. I think the series works great just as a trilogy. First one is kind of that nice twist, second one has awesome sack-head fast moving Jason, third gets him to the mask. BOOM, I can happily be done.

I like others in the series but frankly slow-as-dirt plodding Jason Voorhees is pretty boring to me.

This is good to know since They is in my queue. I will definitely be taking it off my list.

You'll probably be able to find some on youtube. I know there's quite a bit of 60's sci-fi, and certainly older horror titles, so there's bound to be some horror movies from the 60's and 70's. If you can find one from the right time period, it'll lead you to others, so it'll be helpful if you got at least one title from each decade in mind. YMMV, natch.

ok so watching the wrong movie i revisted Night of the demons and i know iv seen it in the past but didnt remember much about it or liking it for that matter

Watching it now i really enjoyed it (maybe due to a chang of pace from revenge and ghost movies lately)
it has plenty of boobs and gore. It also has one of the biggest pet peeves i have with horror with House Parties that consist of <10 people.

I feel something against my body and grab a small body. Pulling it to the surface, I'm relieved to find that it's just a doll. But it's super emotional and everyone is crying.

Later, as we're still swimming around what used to be a parking lot, we notice that sharks are everywhere. The water is somehow crystal clear and I can see swarms of white tip sharks circling those of us who've separated from the main group of survivors.

I manage to swim back to that group, now barricading an old supermarket, and find my family, which now includes Zoey Daschenal (sp ?). As we prepare for an expected huge surge of water and sharks, we find a small utility panel that my family thinks we can all fit inside. The three of them can contort inside of it, just barely, but there is no room for me. I assure them I'll be ok as I close them inside, crying and knowing that I'll never see them again.

Tonight at 8PM is My Babysitter's A Vampire. That's a good one.
I like these Disney Channel "horror" movies. They are usually pretty fun (if not safe) but I can also watch them with my kids and still get into the Halloween spirit for the night.

I agree that the hype surrounding Absentia is impossible for any film to live up too but I also enjoyed it. Absentia conveys a nice sense of longing/grief lugging around a dramatic tone that works for it and has some great imagery with the park.

[Major plot spoilers follow]
Spoiler:
I really liked the monster that lives beneath reality theme and that terror is in ordinary places.
