Just posted today...

Went backwards to the old crappy ad with the crappier picture. I guess some people never learn.

I'd love to see the responses he's gotten to that ad, the sarcastic ones and the serious ones, if any.

I think he went with the blurry picture to make sure no one could read any of the titles.

"Will remove when sold." I'm thinking they're in for the long haul...

I'm surprised they didn't mention owning a Smith & Wesson. Not for sale, of course.

Please buy this. Bring a microphone or something to record the transaction. I am fascinated by this person. They have excellent math skills, too. I have done the math and they are right.

It honestly never occurred to me this ad was written by a man.

The kid in the bottom left corner of the picture creeps me out.

He must be getting a lot of responses in regards to his kids to have to keep mentioning them in his ads.

Re: So I Saw This Ad On Craigslist...

It's almost as if he WANTS someone to come to his house and kidnap or abuse his two small children. He mentions them so much, it's like he's throwing out bait. Such a fascinating ad, I had to read it 5 times it was so amazing.

People listing stuff on CL are so dumb sometimes. I see so many ads like "HUGE LOT OF VHS and DVD" and when you click on the ad, there's no picture, no listing of titles, no nothing. And they expect anyone to respond? Ya, I'm going to drive 40 minutes to some stranger's house just to get there and see a bunch of generic titles. No thank you. Or they say "TONS of DVDs" and you click and they have one pic of 4 lousy DVD's for sale. Tons!!!

Re: So I Saw This Ad On Craigslist...

I thought it would be a good idea to preserve the text of this Craigslist ad here because it will eventually expire:

AT LEAST 300 DVD's For Sale - $600 (Warren)

Selling off my ENTIRE collection. Priced to sell fastly! There are BETWEEN 300-325 DVD's in this collection. Price comes to LESS than $2.00 a piece. DO the MATH! And you will see I'm RIGHT!

Will NOT separate. No you can not come to my home and "cherry pick" through them. We have two very young children here and will not have that going on. Priced to sell fastly. Price is negotiable but will not accept low ball offers. NO trades. No favors. Do not ask to come to my house and bring candy to give to my children. It WON'T happen. Will not sell individual items. WHOLE lot only. Do NOT come into my house with the notion of not purchasing this collection, if you WALK IN my house, it's considered SOLD! Do NOT look into the direction of my two small children at any point of the purchasing and removal time. Please do not ask for a list of titles. I do not have time to sit here and list them ALL because as stated, two young children here that take up most of our time and attention. And NO, the book shelf does not come with it, like I said I have small children and I don't need you picking that thing up and swinging it and hurting my two young children. Not TODAY and Not Tomorrow. Not EVER!!! Do NOT email me with silly ridiculous low offers, because not only is it insulting to me, ITS also insulting to my two small children who I take care of 24/7. Will remove when sold.

Just thought of a good idea for a show- look for weird Craigslist ads like this, and using the show's budget come and buy whatever they're selling, bringing a camera crew with you.

That actually sounds like a really good idea. Now THAT'S a reality show I'd watch.

Re: So I Saw This Ad On Craigslist...

/\ Adam Carolla does a bit like that on his podcast. No camera crew, obviously, but they do talk to the seller on the phone. He had originally started doing it on his morning radio show.

I believe it is called "Who the F buys this S." Often pretty funny.

I can recognize many of the titles this time. It usually doesn't take much to recognize a spine, though the last pictures were much too blurry.

I would contribute to a kickstarter campaign to buy this collection for you, Alan. Hey, you've got room for 'em!

Re: So I Saw This Ad On Craigslist...

I don't buy used DVDs unless they're out of print and can't be gotten any other way. There should be some sort of contest to name all of them in the picture though.

Re: So I Saw This Ad On Craigslist...

Okay, look at the two pictures. Am I seeing a "Dora the Explorer something", one rack of movies, a changing table, the other rack of movies, and then a receptacle to put dirty diapers in ??? There must be a Hello Kitty 13" tv somewhere in that room. Where's the thread about movie collections and how they're displayed when you need it ?

Re: So I Saw This Ad On Craigslist...

Now this is no where near the extreme insanity that is the "2 Small Children" advertiser, but I just found this this morning and I thought it was an interesting use of the barter system...
