There! I've sent the winners list to Rich. I can now (finally!) close the book on this year's TV on DVD* Challenge. I want to thank everyone who participated in the lively and civil discussion thread. It's the discussion thread that promotes the sense of community here on the forum and that's what I find most rewarding as a participant.

Re: Tune in to the TV on DVD* Challenge: same Bat-time, same Bat-forum!
Ok guys all prizes going out today. Please forgive Route 66 and Commish being really jammed into their respective envelopes. They're bubble-wrapped so they should be ok. Cograts to all the winners!
I wanted to participate in this one but here lies my S1-4 of Happy Days...still wrapped. I figured it would be EASY to make time for TV but somehow it just never happened for me. I've been leaning more on the mindless entertainment of videogames lately than TV.

As always, big thanks to Travis for running the Challenge and to Rich for donating and sending out the goodies!
I didn't watch nearly as much as I hoped, especially as I saw the neat things that were being watched and prized. My "to watch" list, both in things I own unopened or in things I see in list threads here and want, has to be at least 20 years long.

I feel your pain. I keep telling myself "don't get anything else for a while" but a really good sale comes along or someone mentions something I've not seen in years and don't yet own so I go off looking for a copy before it goes OOP.

It's easy to get caught up in the next challenge (or the next next challenge) but I want to echo these sentiments. It was a great challenge and very well run. It's easy for me to not notice the hard work put into running these things and I continue to be very impressed with the nice prizes offered by Rich. Travis did a great job picking them out this year. I was very jealous of the winners!

Don't forget, I'm also set to host the Historical Appreciation Challenge in June. Quite a lot of TV shows count for that, including all Westerns; period shows such as Downton Abbey and Mad Men; and any documentary series. We usually have a lively discussion thread there, too.

I plan to participate in that challenge for the first time this year. I'm looking forward to it.

As I recall one of the biggest issues was about counting. I'm going to address that by implementing both a movie and a TV section for anyone who wants to watch mixed content.
It's still early to worry about all that, though. Right now, I hope everyone is enjoying the (Whatever Challenge Is Going On This Month) Challenge.

I dimly remember when that was possible for me, too...! Now everything just seems to go OOP before I even allow myself to notice it's come out.

A pox on you shadokitty!
Dibs on running this one next year. The only things that will count are items that absolutely positively won't fit in any other Challenge. I know many straight up dramas can't be fudged into a Challenge; not sure what else is out there that may fit.
Only a few hours until the Acton/Adventure Challenge starts, where much TV is allowed!*
* Providing you are on certain South Pacific islands.

^You may not be able to do such a challenge next year. I've read that the Academy Awards are probably moving to late March/early April because of the Winter Olympics. If that happens the AA challenge will be butting heads with possibly 2 others.

Way to ruin my day Bob! Year actually!
But depending on the date, part or even all of February could be free, right?

Would sports count? Not much of a drama fan, but I do enjoy watching sports and the outdoor channels like hunting and fishing shows.

But we should probably move this discussion to the Challenge Compendium thread.
On topic, TV is better than sliced bread.

Re: Tune in to the TV on DVD* Challenge: same Bat-time, same Bat-forum!
But yes. Part or all of February will be free due to the date change. The Winter Olympics are Feb. 7-23 and the Super Bowl is Feb. 2nd which pretty much eliminates the AA broadcast unless they move to a Monday. Huffington Post indicates sentiments are to move it to sometime in March but Variety says AMPAS is possibly going to push for a early-mid January telecast. But as the Oscars "go last" in "awards season" a January telecast would put lots of pressure on other awards (SAG awards, DG, etc.) to go as early as December to not be considered afterthoughts. No matter which direction they go it'll mess with a established challenge or two.

Re: Tune in to the TV on DVD* Challenge: same Bat-time, same Bat-forum!
Since that will compete with the Action/B-Movie Challenges (March-April), we can have an Academy Awards subset where you can choose action/crime and B-movies that were nominated for Oscars, e.g. KING OF THE ZOMBIES (1941) and DILLINGER (1945).
