Sorry, no time to link them to their posters this year, I literally just typed all that out. Also, there was actually 56 as opposed to 55 answers. Slight oversight.

Yeah, the possibility exists I might have gone just a little overboard on this one. For next year I'll try to come up with something that doesn't require hours of research for just one prize. And in usual fashion the next prize contest will be a simple question or two ...an actual trivia question.

Congrats undeadcow! That book looks very nice.

Ugh, I keep unwittingly picking regional/amateur awfulness! The latest community theater production was The Redeemer, which was severely padded even at 84 minutes.

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 8th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (Oct 1-31) P

Yesterday evening we had our weekly movie night and sat down for a double feature of The Shining and Peeping Tom.

Afterward, we talked a lot about the various theories about Kubrick's horror masterpiece. One of my friends is a big movie fan and always has some great trivia and thoughts to contribute. I was really interested with the large about of seemingly incidental pop culture in The Shining. There is a Bugs Bunny cartoon, Peanuts decals, a Mickey Mouse sweater, and various Disney toys throughout. However, with the exception of the sweater, these are all set dressings and Danny never plays with his Goofy or Winnie the Pooh dolls. Don't know what to think about it but found it interesting.

Peeping Tom is such a fascinating film. I watched it for the first time a couple of years ago, and it is haunting. I love the scene with the old psychiatrist, and the main character has a certain Peter Lorre quality. Highly recommended.

Congrats undeadcow! I'm curious how many you knew without doing research. I gave it a glance, realized I only recognized The Walking Dead and The Fly, and decided not to try! (I'm lazy.)

Yeah! Thanks to Chad for organizing the contest and GoldenWheels (hamiltonbook.com) for donating the nice coffee table book! I think I got about 35 of them but couldn't figure out The Skyscraper, lightening guy from The Vindicator, and some others.

Does anyone know if Cassadaga (2011) is as eerie/bloody/sexualized as that poster image looks? Whatever that movie is...

No kidding. I can't imagine how long it took to compile the banner picture. However, that banner is very spirited. I love this part of the challenge because there's a lot of great poster art that goes overlooked and it highlights how cool/strange/iconic promotional art can look. Often these posters are better than the movies turn out.

I didn't know many without doing research, but I really enjoyed browsing through horror/exploitation poster art because so much of it I would have missed otherwise. Plus there's an oddball cult horror art enthusiast community online. It reminds me of going to the video rental stores as a kid and being mesmerized by the horror VHS covers, posters, or things like a cutout of Freddy although all things R-rated or thrashy were forbidden at that age.

Help me choose my final movie for today: Friday the 13th: Part 4 or Suspiria.

Haven't seen either.

Not being a Starbucks regular I am amazed by their "large" size iced coffee it's like they handed me a half gallon of caffeine for $4.

I took the offspring out to see Hotel Transylvania (HT) and can recommend it. Initially I wondered about living in a world were monster team-up movies were starting to feel common place, HT is like a modernized stripped down Mad Monster Party music video. HT was an energetic party movie that's basically one extended joke with a lot of music, dancing, and vibrant humor. It is leagues above anything Adam Sandler's done previously (which is not saying much) and has some fun nods to horror conventions. For a kid friendly "horror" movie it's a good pick.

Big Tits Zombie, which I discovered in part from the poster trivia contest, was a worthy live action anime style slapstick splatter movie with some cool kills.

Suspiria hands down; Friday the 13th: Part 4 is one of the better F13 movies but pales in comparison to the force that is Suspiria. Make sure you eventually watch both.

I would also recommend Suspiria. You will have fun with Friday the 13th Part 4, but Suspiria is a much better movie.

Can anyone think of any made-for-TV horror documentaries? That could be an excellent way of getting those two checklist items.

Oh, I got a little extra bonus. I registered my PS3 to play Amazon Instant Video and received a $5 credit. I'm sure I can find a use for that.

this sums up my thought on Colin. I did enjoy the movie but dragged so much in alot of parts. get points for taking a different approach on the zombie genre but isn't a movie i can see revisiting anytime soon

a more slapstick zombie perspective movie i enjoyed that i discovered last year was Ahhh Zombies.

I'm planning to take my son to see that sometime this weekend. Frankenweenie the week after. I enjoy trying to work stuff that he can see with me into my list.

I'm hearing that it's not that great. But the kid really wants to see it, so I'll take the hit.

I'm diving into The Loreley's Grasp by Amando de Ossorio, also available on YouTube. Although I haven't seen it yet I'm confident it meets rubber suit theme day requirements. Also hoping to stay up for Humanoids From the Deep.

Really wanna see Burning Moon now. Have my month planned out, but hopefully I'll end up with a free 90 minutes somewhere to squeeze it in.

TLG is really underrated. And Humanoids rules so hard.

It is an absolute blast of blood soaked trash. I just realized there is a quote on the dvd cover that says it is the most accurate portrayal of violence and gore in any horror movie... there's one specific moment in the film that is so ridiculous you have to wonder how much the person got paid to put that on the artwork

The disconnect was that I was thinking of the one from the early 70s but there was another series that had him.

I love Cube (1997) but Maurice Dean Wint's performance takes it down a (tiny) notch for me.
