The Simpsons......blu-ray v.s. DVD
I need Simpsons 13+ for my collection and noticed they gave, or are releasing blu-ray fir seasons. Simpsons was not in HD so I ask, is it worth fooling with BR or should I stick to my Dvd's which I am happy with?

If you can find it for cheap then get the BD, it's nice to see it cleaned up and bright and whatnot, but it's nothing spectacular.

I have the three seasons that are available on Blu-ray and think they look pretty good. I haven't seen the DVD counterparts but they seem to look a bit better than some of the newer seasons that are on DVD. I'd say go for them if you can get them cheap. This thread reminds me I'm still missing season twelve.

Thx guys.
Thing is my buddy "backs up" his stuff and he said starting with season 13, I can have any DVD set he gets for $10. That's pretty cheap.

If anything buying it on bluray you don't have to worry about the crappy foldout package and scratched dvds.

Yeah I really don't understand Fox's deal with constantly changing the packaging style for The Simpsons. It seems like so far they've done five one style then the next five are different style. The latest style accordian type packaging is pretty bad though and makes the discs more at risk for scratches.

For all the money The Simpsons franchise makes, you'd think the DVD packaging would get better, not worse. Plus, I never understood the cheap glued-on backs which list episodes and features! You lose that, it becomes a pain in the ass.

Not sure about The Simpson’s but I can certainly tell a difference with many animation titles. I had to sell off my original DVDs of The Incredibles and A Bug’s Life because they looked like crap on a big display. But my dvd of Wall-E looked great. The compression is what will do it.

I have some anamorphic/enhanced for widescreen DVDs that look worse than some non-enhanced 4:3 DVDs zoomed onto my widescreen HDTV. I notice that a lot of my early 16:9 Warner Bros. DVDs look like shit -- soft image, compression artifacts, tons of EE.
