Is Echo Bridge purely Public Domain?
Ahoy,
I'm looking at a new box set on Amazon. It says it came out on October 11. It's published by Echo Bridge. I can't post a link, and it's kind of hard to find on Amazon. You have to search "Prophecy 5 film collector's set". Even "Prophecy 5 film collection" won't work. Also, when you get to it, the title appears as "Prophecy 5 Collector's Set." Bit wonky.
As far as I know, these movies are not in the public domain. The first three have Christopher Walken and the first was released in 1995.
It just came out a few days ago, so no one seems to have any info on it. It says widescreen, but I looked at another set by the same guys (Hellraiser 6 movie set) and apparently they really botched a couple transfers on there (With one being fullscreen).
Does anyone know anything about Echo Bridge's horror collection dvd's? I think this "series" is all from 2011, and in particular, this very month, so I'm not expecting much. I'll probably have to just wait for some Amazon reviews to pop up. (IE: Wait for someone else to take a chance!)
PS: Yes, I know it's on only 2 discs. I'm hoping they're double sided, or else that won't be good. I'm also kind of a budget collection connoisseur, so I know this won't be a superb quality set.
If you can't find it by searching, the ASIN of it is "B005JJCMOO".

Miramax licensed lots of stuff to Echo Bridge. There's a thread about it somewhere here.
So, the short answer is no, they are not purely public domain.
EDIT....found the thread...

Also, I've got several Echo Bridge sets. The ones I've encountered are all single-sided discs, with up to 4 movies per disc. Needless to say, quality isn't top notch.

Ah. Are they at least dual layer? Do you think it's watchable/decent for someone with a pretty darn small TV? (24 inches, CRT).

My tv isn't anything great and the quality of the movies I've watched have been good enough.

Also, you might be able to find this set cheaper at Wal-Mart or K-Mart.
$14.96 at Wal-Mart...

Thanks, but I doubt it would be worth it, if .com even ships to Canada. Plus, in the Walmart thread here, someone said it was only $7.50 there! I'm going to keep an eye out.

Re: Is Echo Bridge purely Public Domain?
I bought a 4-pack of movies with "Halloween H20" and "Children of the Corn 5" as well as 2 other movies (Honestly can't remember which) and the quality was "meh" to "horrible." H20 looked like a video tape which wasn't too bad, while with COTC5 my mother and I couldn't even tell which character(s) were talking at some points...

Thanks, man! I would totally get that for $7.50 if you say the quality is decent.
Though like I said in the Walmart bargains thread, our Walmart's Halloween sale sucks so far, so they probably won't have it.
