Lion King 8 disc release
Anyone going to get the new updated Lion King release coming out in a few weeks. Was wondering what the difference is, in terms of special features, compared to what is already out there.

You're getting the films for the first time just in time for Halloween on boo-ray.
Edit: Or maybe not. Amazon still shows October release.

Really, until Jan? Thought they would def get it out by Christmas. I know they are including the 3D version as well. I'm just wondering if they are adding more special features to it or if I should just stick to the 2-Disc sets that came out.

Re: Lion King 8 disc release
There was a delay with production apparently which is causing the delay in release.

The Lion King (DVD, 2003, 2-Disc Set, Gift Box w/Book and Signed Drawings) NIB
And then pick up 1 1/2 and 2 in the Special 2 Disc set?

Re: Lion King 8 disc release
Our store received the 8-Disc set to put out on the 4th for it's release. So unless it's a last minute decision, I doubt it's been delayed.

Re: Lion King 8 disc release
I've heard some bad things on the packaging of the Toy Story box set collection, so if this set is anything like that, I'll probably just stick with just the regular Lion King Blu-Ray/DVD combo pack.

So I got the Diamond Edition or whatever it is that comes with the Blu-Ray and DVD. I know a version came out years before and I've done some searching, but didn't find too much information. This new edition that just came out, is the best edition out there? I know the old 2-Disc Set, Gift Box w/Book and Signed Drawings had signed drawings, but in terms with what is on the Discs, what is the difference?

There are several bonus features on the old Platinum Edition release that did not make the transition to the Diamond Edition. I don't know the exact missing features offhand, but I know it was substantial enough that I kept my Disc 2 of the Platinum Edition and put in in my Diamond Edition case.

Re: Lion King 8 disc release
Sorry, I'm not as familiar with the DVD release. On the Blu-ray side, obviously the big draw is the high-def picture and the 3D version.
For extras, there's the following that are new (not sure if these are on the DVD version or if it's blu-ray only):
Pride of The Lion King (38 min)
The Lion King: A Memoir: Don Hahn (20 min)
Deleted/Alternate Scenes (14 min, with introductions by Roger Allers and Rob Minkoff)
