Phantasm DVDs
Anyone know how the Phantasm DVDs are compared to the old VHS tapes, in terms of footage? I'm trying to get rid of all my tapes, and I have Phantasm I, II, and III on VHS, but I want to make sure that there isn't any footage on the VHS tapes that isn't included on the DVDs. Hopefully the DVDs contain all the footage that the VHS tapes have?

Re: Phantasm DVDs
Easy answer, without having to link/read a bunch of wikipedia nonsense is that the DVDs include all of the footage that is on the regular north american VHS, but some of the DVDs can be hard to find...

Looks like all the latest versions are available from Amazon for an average of 10 bucks a pop. I'm not sure if Anchor Bay lost the rights and they'll become harder to find, but right now it's not too tough.

Re: Phantasm DVDs
Thanks guys. I was thinking about waiting for the Blu-rays, since I heard they were going to be released soon... or are they?
Also are the Anchor Bay DVDs the best ones to get, and did Anchor Bay release all 4 Phantasms? I looked at Amazon, and it looks like Anchor Bay only released Phantasm 3 and 4. Unless Amazon's product descriptions are wrong.

Anchor Bay released Phantasm, Phantasm 3, and Phantasm 4.
Part 2 is owned by Universal and was released by them. Quite a while after the three Anchor Bay discs, in fact.

I bought all 4 but had only seen Parts I & II, enjoyed seeing III & IV finally, but the ending of Oblivion made me think there should be a Part V to the story. Maybe I just need to watch it again, but IMHO the story didn't end very well.
Love the premise, the movies were exceptional, love to hate the Tall Man, the chrome balls are creepy no matter how you slice it (), but the ending left me wanting more. -kd5-

Re: Phantasm DVDs
I just noticed that Amazon Instant Video has an HD version of Phantasm II. How is that possible if it hasn't been released on Blu-Ray? Wonder if these will ever be released on Blu-Ray...
