Re: Ghost World Criterion!
No telling, sometimes Criterion just sits on things (like Y Tu Mama Tambien or Cronenberg's The Brood) so maybe Ghost World is still a possible (?).

I hope it's still planned. I haven't been able to find any new details.

Re: Ghost World Criterion!
Bump.
We just watched Ghost World for the first time. I was disappointed. It's not entertainingly surreal, but it's surreal enough to keep it from being a slice of life. It's full of the Clowes negativity, which gets tiresome if you aren't an angsty teen. The main character doesn't change or grow.
Mrs Danger said that the art class scenes were very realistic. They were the reason I rented the DVD.
I did like it as a deconstruction of the "manic pixie dream girl" trope. Beautiful young Enid comes into the life of a nice, shy, lonely guy and she turns his life upside down. And it stays upside down, and she leaves him worse off than if she had never had met him.
