Title says is all really.. What "Blind Buy" made you the happiest when you watched the movie?

For me I have run across many movies that I've bought "blindly" and have mostly enjoyed them, but there are 2 that stand out high above the others.


First, Lord of the Rings extended edition boxset. I had never seen any of the movies before and had only heard great things about them and with all the awards they won I figured it was sure bet. I was blown away on how a 4 hour movie or 12 hour epic seemed to just keep moving.


The other was the Matrix. Never really heard about it when it hit on DVD. Bought it just on a whim and holy shit.

All the seasons of Buffy were blind buys and those worked out great!

The Phantasm movies were blind buys and I feel those were good

I've bought a lot of horror movies I had never seen before, such as: Night of the Living Dead (way back in 2000), Day of the Dead, Maniac, Night of the Demons, a ton of different Vincent Price movies, the original Black Christmas, all 3 Re-Animators, From Beyond, The Funhouse, Cannibal Holocaust, etc. Those were all pretty good, CH is okay.

One of the best I bought though was The Song of Bernadette, bought so I could get all the films Vincent Price was in and ended up really enjoying it.

Band of Brothers. Hands down.

top of my list would be Shaun of the Dead and the reimagined Battlestar Galactica miniseries

Shogun Assassin.
