Re: If Looks Could Kill ... Warner Archive
I wish they were all $10. I've been looking for the old movie "The Mortal Storm" for years, and while the Warner Archive now has it in DVD-R, they're charging $19.95. (It's $24.99 at Amazon!) I like the movie, but come on.

Keep an eye out for frequent sales. Last year most titles were as low as $9.95 at one point. You can sign up for emails from WB.

My copy arrived yesterday. Anamorphic widescreen transfer, looks pretty good. I'd give it a solid B to B+ range. Disc includes the original trailer (which has trailer exclusive footage of Grieco talking to camera) which is in rougher VHS level shape. I'd recommend people pick it up if they are fan.

Pretty disappointed with my first experience of these MOD discs. Tried watching it tonight and began stuttering about 15 minutes in and then just froze. Upon inspection of the disc which is the purple DVD-R type, I could see some discolored rings on it and inconsistent color toward the center which is indicative of a bad burn. Guess I'll try a replacement but it's pretty crappy as I have to pay shipping back.

I would hope too that they would use a good quality DVD-R disc such as a Verbatim or a Taiyo Yuden.
Do the discs have any special artwork on them? Ink jet print? Black & white thermal print? Offset Print (Pressed disc print)?

Hmm, I just went by the return instructions on the website. I will call them, if no shipback is the case. Thanks for the info.
Yeah, the burn issue should have been very evident to anyone actually inspecting the disc. Can't they at least run a verify on the burn? Sheesh, it's not like this a $3.99 bargain bin special. As for the disc face "artwork", it seems to be pretty high quality though I'm not sure what method they used to put it on.

It's surprising to hear they have had several quality control issues. The problems you described should be easily seen by the operator doing the duplication.
