Re: Does anyone own any canceled or delayed DVDs?
Re: The Omega Man. At this point, all I can remember is that it was announced, cover art was released and the discs were even pressed, and then it was canceled at the last moment. Sometime later, it was re-announced with new cover art (and possibly new special features), and when it came out, some stores (I know Borders, since that's where I got mine) had the two versions on the shelf side by side. I also remember it was fairly close to Christmas as it was one of those gifts I picked out for my wife to give me. I know there was some discussion on the the forums back then, but it's so long ago that my google-fu isn't turning up anything specific.

Being a big fan of the 1984 "Delivery Boys", I was elated when I read on Amazon that it was finally being released on DVD June 11, 2007. I placed a pre-order but then was notified that it wasn't available.
I finally had to get a version through Amazon UK. It plays on one of my DVD players and won't on another.

I found the "History of Beavis & Butthead" used at a gamestop last year for about $2. It was cancelled right before release date but was one I was really looking forward to. Looked all over but couldn't find it (until seeing it at gamestop). Unfortunately the discs were pretty bad off, but they work.
From the Wikipedia:
A two-disc DVD set titled The History of Beavis and Butt-head was scheduled for release in September 2002 containing the program content of four of the UK-exclusive VHS tapes. However, its release was cancelled at the last moment at the demand of Judge, who owned approval rights for video releases of the series. Many copies were mistakenly put on store shelves on the scheduled release date, only to be immediately recalled. The set started selling on eBay at very high prices, sometimes over $300 USD. According to Judge, the History set was made up of episodes that he had previously rejected for home video release and had been prepared without his knowledge or consent.[14]

I ordered Shoeshine (1946, de Sica) from Amazon when it was a preorder. The disc was pulled for God only knows what reason, but apparently some copies leaked out making this an uber-rare disc. The weird thing is that my copy arrived a full year after the cancellation. Still have it, sealed and bee-you-tee-ful.
